He's a joke character because, well... He's the Duck Hunt Dog, fighting in Smash Bros. Seriously? No, not seriously, JOKINGLY of course. While he may have had a HUGE impact on gaming, directly or indirectly, he still just isn't a Smash Bros. character. Some fans speculate that ROB was intended to be a joke character in Brawl. However, I think he at least works. With a little imagination, you can give him an entire moveset. He's a robot, so, Sakurai and co. went to town, giving him laser eyes and hover boosters. They also used the gyros as weapons, which is honestly conceivable. Dog on the other hand... Yeah, he can bite, scratch, and do things that dogs do, along with (using a little imagination) some fighting moves. He can hit opponents with ducks. Really? Not happening. Crusade isn't the most serious game ever, but there's a limit to the antics we can pull. Dog needs more support if he hopes to be in this game. When you said that he is not a Smash Bros character, what is your example of a Smash Bros character? ROB has worked because he was given the chance to be playable and had a well thought out and imaginative moveset, other than Gyromite. Actually, I think a character like ROB is easy to make a good playable character out of. Though he was barely seen in other games doing some actual fighting or showing some abilities, there were robotic abilities in general that they can add to his moveset. The same thing could be done with Duck Hunt Dog and many others. Now I bet if ROB was never in Brawl, many of us would most-likely have this same discussion about him. Alot of characters dont sound believable or fitting at first till you be creative with their fighting style and moveset and see how they blend in with the others. As for him using ducks, with my moveset, he only had one move that has him attacking with a duck (Side Smash), the only other time he uses the ducks is to carry him back on stage (Up B). Those are the only 2 times he would use the ducks according to the moveset I made for him (and as a taunt). Other moves I had in mind would be for him to use the NES Zapper, Clay Pigeon Disc, dog-based attacks, and possibly some basic attacks like punch and kicks. I know Detta did this for the Ancient Minister, so I would like to try it with this one. I would like to see others grade this character with an honest thought.

Representation: 4: Duck Hunt represents a classic from the NES, which I think is known to most gamers. His game was one of, if not the first to be a shooter. He brought forth one of the most popular genres today, and the gun was certainly a revolution to gaming.
Popularity: 5: Duck Hunt is certainly one of the most popular classic games, I believe has a virtual console game, has a flash remake, a sequel is in one of the ads here, and I believe he's been in a WarioWare thing. He's clearly iconic, and is one of Nintendo's icons.
Moveset Potential: 5: Duck Hunt Dog is a dog, so of course he could do dog things, but he could use the gun packed with the game, use some of the ducks for weapons, clay discs from the clay disc game, the power glove, and many other Nintendo accessories. Not to mention we already have a moveset.
Uniqueness: 2.5: laughing dog is pretty much a dog with nothing else special, but could oddly use birds to attack, be cartoonish, laugh at you, shoot you, but aside from the birds to attack and Nintendo merchandise, its really not much uniqueness.
Overall: 16.5

I know Detta did this for the Ancient Minister, so I would like to try it with this one. I would like to see others grade this character with an honest thought. Might as well go first: Ninja'd by Generic. Representation: 4.5. I never actually played Duck Hunt, but I know how famous it is. Popularity: 2-3. The game itself is popular, but DHD only gets this score because everyone hates him for laughing his butt off at how bad our aim is. Uniqueness: 5. Joke-ish character, there aren't any other dogs on the roster last time I checked (Wolf doesn't count since he's anthropomorphic). Also, no one else fights using ducks. Moveset Potential: 4. Sure, there's ducks and the NES Zapper and stuff like that, but being a dog, there's not really a whole lot of cool stuff usable for normal attacks. 16.5 on the high end. Also, on the topic of R.O.B.: He'd been in Mario Kart DS, for one. He's had cameos in a number of games, including Kirby, Star Fox, F-Zero and Pikmin 2. Not only that, if it weren't for R.O.B., we wouldn't have Nintendo. He essentially saved the video game industry after the Video Game Crash of 1983. Sure, his moveset was somewhat out of the blue, but he wasn't necessarily a joke character.

I can agree with your grading here. Though maybe switch the popularity and representation grade. Everything else makes sense in my opinion.
The games I know he has appeared in are
Duck Hunt Duck Hunt/Super Mario Bros (2 in 1 cartridge) Duck Hunt/Super Mario Bros/World Class Track Meet (3 in 1 cartridge) VS. Duck Hunt (Arcade Version) Barker Bill's Trick Shooting WarioWare Inc. Mega Microgames WarioWare Inc. Mega Party Games WarioWare D.I.Y Showcase Tetris DS Duck Hunt 3D
That's 10 games.

Why did you bump an old topic? Let sleeping dogs lie. There's nothing you can do that'll change their opinion of him.
And I like SOME of those moves, but not the full movesets of a single one. Here's MY take:
Standard Special: NES Zapper-Self explanitory, he pulls out a Zapper and shoots a lightning bolt shaped laser up to 3 times (in reference to the 3 bullets per round in Duck Hunt). Side Special: Clay Disc-Also self explanitory. Tosses a clay disc at the opponent. Up Special: Duck Lift-Pulls out a duck which flies him upward. After a while, he lets go of the duck's legs. (NOT neck, as that's apparently a big no-no nowadays.) Down Special: Duck Trap-He places a duck on the ground that will stay in place, but will freak out when someone else comes near and hurts anyone that is in it's path. (Runs and flys back and forth, then flys away) Final Smash: Open Season-(I like that idea from the 3rd pic). A swarm of ducks fly around in a frenzied, unpredictable path. Think of them like Cuckoos.

I'm starting to give up on having him in Crusade, unless there is more support. So im done with suggesting him as a crusade playable if the dev. wont take him in. Though i am keeping my fingers crossed for him to be in SSB4.
As for bumping an old thread, I didnt want to go off topic elsewhere on a different thread. Plus didn't detta bump the minister's thread not long ago.
The down B attack sounds odd to me, everything else is fine. I like the final smash though.

This isn't starting up again, is it? I hate to break it to you, but there is no way Dog will make it in. He will be in the game, but not as a character.

@dmx
Actually no, I am not re-suggesting DHD for crusade unless users here agree that he should be.
The purpose of bringing this thread up again is to share an artwork that I been looking for some time, so that the community can have as close of a visual of my idea on his move set I made up for him.
I already got all 3 dev. opinion, all 3 stick to your opinions to disagree which I have no choice but to accept, and I already gave my detailed explanations to the best of my ability. So I see no purpose for me to suggest again.
I brought this thread up again cause I dont want to go off topic elsewhere in the forum and there is no reliable thread to post it. Sure I have my own art thread, but that is what the thread is, MY ART. These 3 images are not made by me, but they come close to what my idea of the character's potential should be and again I want to share it with evrryone else

I like him, and I think he'd be a funny character to play as.

I didn't say you were stupid, just that you sounded stupid when one replies to a post and obviously doesn't read the whole post, like you often fail to do, it seems pretty dumb.
Also, snouted is a word. As in, having a snout. Do you have to take every opportunity to make fun of my username?

Just popping in to say that I bumped the Minister's thread because I realized all of Phantom's arguments against him are a load of crap and he won't admit it, as well as doing some sprite work for the new moveset. And the Minister has more support anyways. [/off topic]
