We are not going to add Duck Hunt Dog as a character in this game. End of discussion.
Need I explain send me a PM, and give me logical, well-supported opinions on why you think otherwise.

@dmx. If the polls dont matter when it comes down to deciding on characters, then why even make polls to determine anything? As for the fans, how are you sure it is thousands? And why ignore the fans that are dedicated enough to open their opinions while all the anonymous ones dont even say a thing? Its best to cater to your closest audience possible since they will be around for the next demo and chances are the anonymous will likely not follow. You wont know what the anonymous fans want since they dont speak while those fans you do know here always submit their ideas. So it is not a smart idea to ignore the ones here yet cater to the unknown. You will most likely end up adding personal opinions on characters rather than adding fan choices if you follow that trend
@falcon, honestly I disagree on the other choices of joke characters. Tingle is not a bad choice, but duck hunt dog is an iconic gaming character while tingle is far less famous than him. If dog is a joke character, then its obvious that he is the most famous and well known of all joke characters. So if you choose to go with a joke character, why not go with the best known one? Plus a joke character is never a bad playable character. There are many who are good with characters like jigglypuff and pichu. Just speaking in general
@phantom7. I pretty much explained as much logic, reasoning, details, explanations I possibly could for now. And I have plenty of supporters inside and outside the forum who agree with what I have explained. Plus there are more positive votes than negatives, no matter if the poll matters to getting a character in or not. For now this and this entire thread itself is what I have for explanations for now. Honestly, how much more logic, support, and details can possibly be explained here? If there is some details that is not understandable, feel free to let me know.

Sorry to go off topic, but will you really follow up on the PM? I sent you one two weeks ago and you have neither replied by PM nor by posting on the thread. I did exactly what you just asked; I gave you a reason and evidence that you should reconsider the minister's representation, but you haven't, as far as I know. You could, at the very least, humor me with a simple reply so I know you saw it, but I guess you're just too set on not including him to even bother rebutting my statements.
That is all. Sorry for getting off topic.

I just think playing as Dog will be one of the last things on my list. I mean, DLC all the way, but I am not "hype" about Dog at all.
We'll listen to fans for a while, but really? Tingle a worse choice than Dog? Get outta here! Tingle's an icon, and at that, a more recent one. He's been in more games than Dog, last I checked. He even has his own games! When you say things like Tingle being beneath Dog, I tend to get confused about who I should listen to.

I honestly think that we are going to lose all respect from our fans if we don't either remove Aero or make him VERY much worth it in the game. Off-topic. As for Duck Hunt Dog, I am all about the occasional joke character, but really? There are much better choices. For example, Ray MK III (not a joke character). Or, how about Tom Nook? Or TINGLE? That'd be a good joke character. And, if you don't think Dog is a joke character, I'm sorry, but he is. The best Joke character is clearly Dan. HAAOHHHH GAADOUKENNN!! BLAAAAAHHHHHHHH

"I did it, Father!!" Haha! If he were in the game I would troll so hard...
So, yeah, Duck Hunt Dog = future DLC perhaps, but not in the regular game. That's my opinion.

@ falcon I bet not many were hyped about r.o.b. and mr. gaw when they first appeared either as well as certain characters. There is no way tingle is even up there as an icon. Tingle had 3 games, but duck hunt sold more than any of them. So its 1 good game against 3 crappy games. Dog is a gaming icon, he made the duck hunt game something to remember. And duck hunt is like top hundred of best nintendo games. Tingle really got attetion cause he is the 1st zelda character to have a spin off without link. Tingle has done nothing significant either. At least dog made a game sometime to remember in the past 27 years. Remember, he was also ONE of several nintendo mascots during the nes era. Well ok, him being dlc sounds reasonable at least @dmx Seriously, weegee? ? Explain please cause there is no way on gods green earth he is over duckhunt dog Whose dan?

I can explain that for you: He already has a full sprite sheet, and I've seen it. Also, Weegee is the ULTIMATE joke character, IMO.

Weegee comes before him. Weegee? Really? We should also have Chuck Norris, a Vegeta that can only scream OVER NINE THOUUUSAAAND, and the O RLY owl. Heck, those would all be better choices. Dan is a street fighter character. Look up Dan Hikibi.

I think he's taking the word "joke" differently. And something else you might want to remember, Duck Hunt was quite a bit of a revolution to modern gaming: wasn't it the first game to have a gun that you point at the screen to shoot something with no bullets? At least the first at home

I'm all for Laughing Dog simply because it'd be hilarious, but him before Tingle? I say no to that. Tingle should've been in BRAWL.
As for Weegee, he's technically 5th Party (Original creation). Whereas the BASIS for Weegee isn't, Weegee himself (and what he stands for, mannerisms, abilities, etc.) were original for his meme. So no Weegee.

I think the Dog's best bet at being in the game for now is in the background of the Duck Hunt stage.

If that ends up being the case, at least he's in the game...

That would be cool!
If it moved to try and hurt airborne players?
Then if it missed, the dog would laugh.

You'll be able to KO the Dog at Duck Hunt (the stage). And that's where he will be. Right at his home.

Yes, it is revolutionary. Along with super mario bros, duck hunt was the first ever nintendo console launch game that came in a 2 in 1 cartridge game with the purchase of the nes. And duck hunt was the first game along with wild gunman to introduce the light shooting gun to video games. But duck hunt was obviously the most popular game that had the gun during this era.
And as for the dog, before him, players would shoot to break score records. But when duck hunt dog came to the scene, most players were shooting to avoid being made fun of rather than trying to get a high score. I believe that the dogs antics help motivate players to do their best to shoot perfectly if you think about. And the dog was the one who has brought characteristics in the shooting genre, making him the best known 1st person shooting game character of his time. Hell, he made duck hunt the legendary game it is today. And during the nes era, himself, mario, dk, and link were nintendo mascots before later franchises like metroid, pokemon, kirby, star fox, etc came along. The request for revenge towards him is one of nintendos urban legends. Numbers of old school fan agree that a character who made a legendary popular shouldnt be so under-ratted, thus making him appear as a joke caracter

He's a joke character because, well... He's the Duck Hunt Dog, fighting in Smash Bros. Seriously? No, not seriously, JOKINGLY of course. While he may have had a HUGE impact on gaming, directly or indirectly, he still just isn't a Smash Bros. character.
Some fans speculate that ROB was intended to be a joke character in Brawl. However, I think he at least works. With a little imagination, you can give him an entire moveset. He's a robot, so, Sakurai and co. went to town, giving him laser eyes and hover boosters. They also used the gyros as weapons, which is honestly conceivable.
Dog on the other hand... Yeah, he can bite, scratch, and do things that dogs do, along with (using a little imagination) some fighting moves. He can hit opponents with ducks. Really? Not happening. Crusade isn't the most serious game ever, but there's a limit to the antics we can pull.
Dog needs more support if he hopes to be in this game.
