He seems to bulky for such a small character. And the grenades just seem to take up to much time. The side special leaves him completely open, and his aerials are hard to successfully activate.

He can't be bulky and small. Grenades are almost as good as in Brawl. Side special is for Free For Alls. What do you mean? That sounds like operator error.

I think his aerials are situational, but good if you use them right. Especially Uair and Bair. Uair KO's like crazy and Bair has awesome range.

The Grenades in brawl was awful. IN free-for alls, then that means against CPU. And they just seem to hard to activate.

The Grenades in Brawl were his best tool. They made him the second best character in the game.
Learn about the competitive scene before saying things are awful.

How was he the second best character? Are you listening to tiers? That's just how well people use him, how many people like to use him. I thought he was second worst, first being Bowser, closely followed by Ganondorf.

I look at Tiers because the information they use is gathered from thousands of people playing in tournaments, and they rank characters based on how well people using that character do.
Not some random person's opinion, which doesn't seem to have much basis.

Snake's low tier position angered me. Not as much as Link being high-tiered (how the heck did THAT happen...), but it still doesn't make much sense.
He has some of the best tilts in the game, his u-tilt probably being THE best in the game. The first hit of his f-tilt is a good spike, and usually combos into the second hit. His jab is very powerful and fast.
As for aerials, his n-air is terrible, and you shouldn't be using it. But his b-air and u-air are batf ck crazy kill moves, his f-air is amazing for edgeguarding and his d-air sets up an u-tilt.
His grenades aren't as useful as before, as in Brawl he threw them straight away, and could change the angle and speed of the throw. His up special gives him super armour, making him pretty much impossible to edgeguard, and it has amazing distance. His down special (and down smash) is great for keeping control of the stage, making certain areas risky for opponents.
As for the side special and the smash attacks... Well, just simply don't use them. They suck.

I don't know why everyone thinks he's low tier.
But stop censor dodging.

Because he's so slow, primarily. What's the point of that KO potential if you can't hit anything? Compare to Goku or Ryu, they have something that makes other characters approach. With Snake they just have to dance around until they find an opening.

As well as that, the aerials are hard to perform correctly, like mentioned above, as well as leaving himself open with side special, and overall with the computers(which most tiers here were based on) he easily SD's himself with the grenades.

Oh, the tiers were based on CPUs? Surely there'd be some errors in that system... But it's the best system without online play, I guess.
I wouldn't say Snake was slow. All his useful moves (jab, f-tilt, u-tilt, u-air, b-air) come out quickly and have the power to back it up. But I guess because the tiers were based on CPUs, they don't really know whether an attack is good or not, and so probably use smash attacks and side Bs a lot... I guess that explains the low tier position.

The CPU almost always chooses the appropriate attack in my experience (probably they analyze frame-by-frame) The problem is that certain things they do are predictable and therefore, punishable i.e. when you come back from k.o. they run to the edge, jump off, then on while airdodging; or if you dair they powershield and uptilt/upsmash.
What I meant was that he as a character lacks the mobility needed to engineer situations where he won't be punished.
EDIT: CPUs are only beast with melee attacks. They are crazy stupid with projectiles.

Yeah, I see what you mean now. I think he's pretty much the only character who doesn't have a way of moving quickly (cause Ristar has Star Catapult, Link has Back Slice and Ryu has Tatsumaki). In Brawl, because his grenades were so good in that game, he didn't actually have to move anywhere. But I guess that's changed in Crusade.
