I know the age of fighting with the SSF2 Developers is over, but something that Geno said on the McLeodGaming Forums interested me.
He said that Rosalina was a poor choice because all she did was pass out stars. Granted, I'm only paraphrasing what he said, because what he actually said was much more vulgar. I'm also not sure he is correct in what he said about Rosalina.
This got me to thinking; there are a few characters in the official Smash titles haven't done much prior to their addition. Some have done more AFTER their addition.
1. Dr. Mario: First, ignore that he's Mario. What did he do? Throw pills in a bottle.
2. Zelda: The only thing she's done other than being a damsel in distress was give Link Light Arrows, then help him out of dungeon, and hold Ganon in place for him to deliver the final blow.
3. Sheik: All Sheik did was serve as a disguise for Zelda, and teach Link songs.
4. Ice Climbers: All they did was climb a mountain and club things.
5. R.O.B.: He/it served as a real life device that moved tops and blocks.
6. Fox/Falco: All they did was pilot aircraft and tanks.
9. Captain Falcon: Drove a futuristic racecar. He may have been a bounty hunter storywise, but since when did bounty hunter = firey punches in the shape of birds?
10. Mr. Game & Watch: He did a bunch of random @$$ things. This may be subverted because those random @$$ things compose his entire moveset.
After this knowledge, Geno deserves a faceplam.
Just because Rosalina didn't do much, she is implied to have cosmic powers, so a moveset can be easily be made for her. If a racecar driver can be made into a superhero-esque fighter, I don't see how Rosalina can't be made into a fighter.
