Arguably one of the most memorable and amazing platformer/shooter games, Doukutsu Monogatari! Discuss the awesomeness here.
I'll start off...
I've probably beaten the game at least nine times, and am in the process of beating it again on my PSP. I forget how far I got in the wii version, I think I beat it. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE WEAPON is the Bubbler. Except for most of Grasstown and Sand Zone, it's pretty much the only weapon I use, save for the very few instances where it's pretty useless (Monster X being one). I've actually managed a 3HP run, but I don't think I ever managed to get all the way through Sacred Grounds. I've beaten Sacred Grounds probably 15 times with 55 HP though. The Bubbler is LITERALLY essential in a 3HP run because of it's range and defensive properties.
So yeah, discuss and all that jazz.

The official Wii port by Nicalis is 10 bucks (which is also the reason that Quote apparently can't be in fangames), and yes. It. Is. Awesomeness.
As a heads up, Generic, there's three endings. Have fun trying to get the best ending. I had to play through three times before I finally managed to do EVERYTHING. As another heads up, if someone offers you a weapon that requires trading in the Polar Star, DO NOT TAKE THE TRADE. Just trust me. And make sure you get the Bubbler.

.... *facepalm* I just got to the part where I traded it in. I'm already regretting it. SO HARD TO LEVEL UP. *sigh* Is the bubler a secret weapon?

You mean when you traded it for the machine gun?! I hope you didn't save.
To get the bubbler, you have to take some jellyfish juice to the fireplace in the Assembly Hall in Mimiga Village. The Bubbler's inside it.

OOH, COOL. ...But yeah, I didn't. Is there any particular reason you don't like it, except for EXTREMELY LONG LEVEL UPS?

Wait, so if you didn't save after trading it in, go back to your last save. I hope it wasn't too far back. The machine gun? It's not that I don't like it. If you're fast enough, you can fly indefinitely with it by rapidly shooting down in the air. But if you have the machine gun, you can't get the Spur.
And later on when Curly helps you out she has the crappy Polar Star instead of a machine gun, and she's invincible in those parts.

What's the spur? And yes, I've already saved.

Dang nabit. Have fun later on in the game. By the by, you can make multiple save files. There's some file inside the Cavestory folder that has the save data. If you rename it and start a new file or put it in another folder, you can have as many save files as you want.
Can't find a good video, but the Spur is arguably the best weapon in the game. You can charge it yourself, for one.
Also, if you see Professor Booster fall down in front of you into a pit, DON'T HELP HIM. Just making sure you have fun.

What would that do? and the save files are in the data folder, right?

Probably. I don't know what version you have. What would not helping Prof. Booster do? It does stuff slightly later in the game that you would regret not having be done.

...Why would I want to feel regret? That just influences me to save him.

No, you would regret not having left him. You might regret having left him for a small while, but it'll feel much better after a certain event.

In the waterway part. Reminds me of those parts in Pokemon with the waterways you had to avoid. My favorite weapons so far is the sword. It makes me think I have a sidekick of King. And I DIDN'T save the professor.

Did you get the Booster v2.0? If so, good. You can proceed to have much more fun now.

Aaaaand now I'm in the final cave. ITS SO HARD. Where should I have met Curly, or did I just not save her? Couldn't tell, I put her on the bed during the waterway.
