Link's got some decent buffs, but he's still slow, too powerful for combos, not powerful enough for gimping and his recovery still pales compared to most other recoveries.
What's more, his slower falling speed makes him more vulnerable to vertical KOs, and his new side B means that he no longer has his boomerang, which was his fastest projectile. Also, the loss of the boomerang means you can no longer hit with both hits of the forward smash. His side b either has tiny range, or (if you decide to go for the second hit without hitting with the first) far too slow. Also, it can only be used on the ground. Even harder to hit.
So, yeah. He's still a bit of a smash bros punching bag, but he's definitely gotten buffed.

I was playing brawl today with some friends and I actually didn't use the boomerang at all!! Of course the reason for this was the fact that we were playing special brawl giant super-sudden-death metal heavy style. Throws ftw...
