That is one solid sprite. But if youre going by that style, I don't think the reflection is good....at least, for a majority of the stages.

For NvC? We haven't done anything yet, to my knowledge. Ask Falcon8r. I think he's gotten movement, but I'm not sure.

I want to start on engine basics this weekend. I still need to figure out how I want to implement command buffering.

Okay then, nevermind... :] I'm still looking for the best sprite style. That Capcom Vs SNK style is interesting, but idk yet. It'll work well.

I think Capcom Vs Snk would be really nice. I am not so sure.
By the way, it's currently undecided whether the game will actually be 3D, but we're leaning towards 2D.

It could be semi 3D like MvC2.

Perhaps you could simply heavily edit MUGEN to make your game. May sound like the easy, lazy way but can give remarkable results and isn't all that simple.

That is a really good idea. In fact, we would have a lot of references to look at!

I'd love to help out with this, except I can't sprite and the only programming I can do is a little bit in Alchemy.

MUGEN might be a good way to go, but we'd really like to have our own engine, you know? There aren't any good fighting engines for GM that I know of.

If you do use MUGEN, I was already planning to learn the ropes for that, for an El Maiz game, so I may be able to help.

I know a decent amount of how-to for MUGEN, but I am not great at doing sprites and palettes yet. I can make movesets all day, but the sprites still get me.
