I am practicing how to make sprites and if the developers are interested in using any of my sprites (if they are good enough), then you are more than welcome to do so. Also, if any of the spriters would like to edit or help me out on any sprites, they are also welcome to do so themselves. I will give updates on each sprite as I continue. Please feel free to tell me what needs to be worked on. I am open for collaboration spriting. Duck Hunt Dog (edited from another sprite sheet) (in progress) 1st Animation: Taunt 2nd Animation: Run 3rd Animation: Idle 4th Animation: Hit 5th Animation: Fall 6th Animation: Neutral B - NES Zapper (in progress) Porky (custom-made by SmashKing201) (in progress) Little Mac (custom-made by SmashKing201) (in progress) Boxing Ring (custom-made by SmashKing201) (in progress) 1st Stage In Sin & Punishment (custom-made by SmashKing201)(in progress)

I recommend you add some shading to those. The dog looks like he came from an NES game.

I agree. I was also thinking about making his outlines much darker as well. What you think?
And should I make the shading lighter or darker? Not much of an expert at this sorry ;D
other issue I have with shading is that I dont know what areas to put it
new update, I just tried to sprite little mac's head

I was being slightly sarcastic with the duckhunt dog but he could actually look better with some more modern shading. What I recommend is you could get away with just adding another highlight to the brown in areas and for the white add a shadow. With porky I would get another highlight, a shadow, and white for the hair and pants. the arms need two darker colors for them and probably a similar story to the face.

Yes, I see what you mean now. I will work on that later today and see how it comes out. If I cant make it appear good enough then maybe some other spriters might want to collaborate on a couple of sprite work with me.

The Zapper needs the same 8-bit style as the Dog himself. Porky looks pretty nice so far. It would be neat to see more sprites like that!
Mac's lookin' good too!

Thanks dmx. with the zapper looking to long, I plan to make it shorter and sprite it better. For Porky, I will add the spider-backpack. And Little Mac will take some time to work on.

Hey guys, I been working on a new stage. I been wanting to make this one for some time. So here is Little Mac's Boxing Stage!! By the way, I made it from scratch. There is still a whole lot of more work to be done. For example, I plan on making multiple sprites of the crowd, the two boxing gloves on the "Punch-Out!!" logo, the ropes of the ring, and I want to try and make a sprite of The Doc cheering and pacing back and forth ringside. DMX or any other spriters, if your reading this, since I already made the base of the stage, would you guys be interested in editing this stage?? I will PM the files.

I'll post some things I find... odd.
It's JPEG. It ruins the whole thing. When saving, save it as a PNG, otherwise you'll loose color, etc. In this case, it just... ugh. Only use JPEGs for photos.
Now, on to other things. The Punch-Out!! logo doesn't match the angle of the floor. It looks like it is standing on its own, and not as part of the floor. Little to no shading on the floor. Also no shading on those poles, either.
It is a good start, but those things I said. Especially saving it as a JPEG, that's rule numero uno for spriting: don't save as JPEG.

Thanks for the info Staypuft. I just wan to know, since I didnt save it as PNG, if I was to edit the picture, will I be able to save it as PNG again? And yea, I was beginning to think that about the logo. I am using Microsoft paint for my sprites by the way. But do you know if there is some sort of tools I can use to fix the logo without having to remake it all over again? And yea, I plan to work on the shading, I just wanted to post up what I had started to see if the whole base of the stage is good enough so far ;D And hey, where did my Boxing Ring go? ?

Once you save it as JPEG, it'll keep the JPEG effect... unless you edit it out, that is. Unless you have a program that allows layers (Paint.net, GIMP, or Photoshop, or something else), you'll have to either re-sprite it, or trace over it and edit out the background afterwards. If you have a program with layers, just open the JPEGed stage in a layer, then create a new layer and trace pixel-by-pixel. Then when your done, delete the old layer with the image on it and save the trace-over as a new image (not as a JPEG though).
I don't know of a program that'll adjust the angle of the logo, you might have to consult the great being known as Google for that...

Well, looks like I might have to check out these other programs to see what I can do or just re-make it and put it under a different file. But what you think of the base and angle of the ring itself? Besides the logo and shading errors. You think the ring should be in a different angle, up close, etc?

I think it's fine IMO. Though I'd make the floor look a bit more like it does in this image:

Ah yes, the most recent Punch Out game. I made mines blue to match the retro part of the series. But I do think the new one would look better. The only difficult part of this will be the color of the ringside floor.
Also, I plan on having Doc at ringside pacing back and forth and then pound his fist to the ring at times. What you think? Also, I will put in an audience in the background moving in 2 different animations.

Doc would be cool, though IMO he should only appear as an easter egg only when Little Mac appears/fights on the stage, cause I don't think he'd be allowed right next to the ring otherwise lol, but it is up to you. The audience is also a must.

You think it is possible to program Doc to only appear as an easter egg for Little Mac on this stage?

I mean, it's a cool idea, though we'd have to ask falcon. I never even thought a smash game could be made in game maker before crusade, so I honestly have no idea. If it can't be an easter egg, then yeah have Doc on the stage all the time.
Also, if we end up having win animations like in real smash bros, Doc could possibly appear in one of Mac's win animations. But that's getting ahead of myself.

This is the 1st sprite I ever made which was earlier this year. It is part of the 1st Stage in Sin & Punishment. It is when Saki is running on a bridge that is closed between several collapse buildings. Yes, I know it looks bad right now and it is not in JPEG file, but if this stage can be considered, I will do heavy editing on it to look better. The blue lines is where the fighters can stand on
