Maiz is right. Development started after E3 of 2005, when it was announced. Sakurai had no idea that Iwata was planning on a third installment until it was announced. However, Sakurai apparently just announced that development hasn't started, and they only made it public because they're in need of developers.Although upon further thought, I think it's actually a horrible idea to release it on the 3DS and the WiiU. Obviously the 3DS isn't as powerful as the WiiU, and I highly doubt that game cartridge can hold 25 gigabytes of data like the WiiU discs will. The WiiU version will probably end up being pretty crappy in comparison to other WiiU games, unless the 3DS has some hidden potential that makes it more powerful than the Playstation Vita is going to be, which is completely implausible.

Wii came out in 06 Brawl came out in 07. Nope. It came out in 08.And do you REALLY think they spent seven years working on it? They started working on it since 2001 when they finished Melee. 2001 to 2008.That's just stupid. Responses in Italice.

They didn't start working on it as soon as Melee came out.

ZS, did you even see what I posted? Sakurai left Hal Laboratories in 2003 and thought he was finished with Smash Bros until Iwata announced Brawl. Brawl wasn't in development right after Melee came out. The Wii was. Here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Smash_Bros._Brawl#DevelopmentDevelopment began in October 2005. That's nowhere near "right after Melee was released". There was simply a 7 year gap.

In the E3 conference, listen to Satoru Iwata when he talks about Smash Bros. He said "What kind of game can use for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U? Mr. Sakurai suggested was: A specific idea to make Smash Bros for both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U"

The problem is that they haven't even begun development yet.

Well, I hope they take their time and do a good job. ;D We don't need another Brawl.
Don't get me wrong, Brawl's fun, but there are some times I feel that the time restrictions limited what we got out of it (i.e. the cut characters, etc.).

This is why I feel that they shouldn't announce the game until a few months before release. Rabid fans rush and rush and rush, and the company makes promises that they cannot keep.

Tech: Ok, all that's left is to balance Meta Knight. Sakurai: No! We can't delay it again! RELEASE IT NAO! Classic. Hopefully this one will be better.

My only wish for this game is that this installment will have better online and I'm really crossing my fingers for this smash to have DLC. But DLC is probably asking a bit too much.
I'd also appreciate a more in-depth stage builder.

About the 'All Powerful Jedi', Starkiller would make a good choice if Star Wars had been, BESIDES, there are more Star Wars games than you can count! (That is TRUE).

That is not. There are 138 Star Wars related games, including Flash games and those on the cell phone.
I feel rather insulted.

Shut the EFFF up about the Star Wars characters. It isn't a video game originating series, so it's automatically disqualified for official Smashes. Doesn't matter how many games it has, as The Simpsons has a plenthora of games, and Homer has no chance in HELL in being an offcial Smash character.
There are far more important choices, like a Megaman (most likely Megaman Volnutt), Simon Belmont, and Shadow the Hedgehog.

Even if the new smash is like Brawl, I personally dont care. I played the hell out of Brawl. It was still loads of fun IMO. And 3DS games can hold 8 gigs IIRC so dont count the WiiU/3DS versions being SO different.

I don't care if it's like Brawl either, but make the random tripping gone. Have moves that trip characters, but don't have the random tripping......

Even though tripping could save your butt once in a blue moon, yeah it should be gone.
