I saw this topic so I wanted to give my speculation a good ole' go.
Alright, I suspect the arrival of ten newcomers for the next smash bros.
First things off, there will be more inclusion of 3rd party. Sakurai has considered it for brawl so why not Strife?
With stating this, we have some possible candidates for 3rd party.
*Quote(Cave Story) Owned by Studio Pixel, but also owned by Nicalis considering the DSi, Wiiware, and soon yet to come, 3DS releases.
I wouldn't see why not he would have a chance to be a part of something major, but this all depends on the yes/no factor from either side, considering that Pixel owns him. He'll decide what to do with him in the event that time comes.
A second speculation for 3rd Party is a possible 'Mega Man X'.
*Mega Man X has had his releases on the Super NES and Capcom has been supporting Nintendo since the last couple of years ago. He's a possible canidate for the next spot.
Now you may ask: Why not the original?
In all honesty, they both have equal chances getting in.
I'm just rolling the dice for some luck here.
But in dire situations, there could be another 3rd party slot, but I'd think that would be going overboard. I have tons of 3rd party speculations but I'm definitely sure with the following two I mentioned.
Although if another is added, *Pacman would be the third best. Also looking at the facts, he's been with Mario in at least 3 games and to mention that he's Namco's head figure. Although there have been arguments that he may not fit in this type of game. There are selective series within Namco in the event Pacman doesn't work.
*Tales of Series/ Tekken would be better in the case he may feel unfitting but Namco should only use either one as a last resort.
If were to do this by poll... then screw the logix?
That's how our Sawnik got in(Anyone notice how Snake was boss in comparison to Sawnik in SSBB? Do you think that was on purpose?)
[Referring to why and where they were placed on the tier list; basically their overall performance.]
As for Nintendo characters, I speculate:
*G-G-G-G-G-Geno
-Technically owned by Square, he was scheduled to make some form of an appearance within brawl, but was taken out for unknown reasons. He would be a suitable canidate but as long as he's under the subjected denial hammer, then it's still a negative in his case. I am in no way giving general attention to him alone. I look forward to all newcomers of the SMASH universe.
*Zoroark / Victini
-Well, I am considering his placement into the roster because he was one of the first confirmed(aside his pre evolution, Zorua) Pokemon Black and White. He would definitely be a unique asset to the SSBs roster seeing how unique he is in B/W. The illusion ability would definitely play some card into effect.
As for Victini, it's more of a want rather than general facts. He wouldn't be half bad being playable and their are several unique moves he can use. Can't really compare him to any other character who has appeared in Smash History, but it's not a bad idea. Remember that Victini was our first mystery gift, so he's iconic in some way.
-Also, I expect some updates to *Pokemon Trainer. They could be for better or for worse. More than likely, they're going black and white.
*Stylux(Metroid)
-Not necessarily meaning it's going to happen but Samus needs more co if you know what I mean. Stylux is probably one of the most iconic bounty hunters. inb4rageaboutRidley.
I mean seriously, Ridley the size of Bowser?
No.
Just no.
*LoZ minor speculation-
-More than likely, Skyward Sword will be out before this game, which also requires the triforce to gain an update of some kind. Iunno about Toon Link. I've been debating about him staying in for a while now. He was probably placed in there to fill in that missing spot of Young Link, so I assume he'll get updated in some special to space his semi move set clonish self from Link(Note that I said Moveset clone, just basic stat changes and they both have different play styles despite the minor changes in their move sets. I personally don't mind these when comparing Fox to Wolf. As long as their play styles are different, I'm all game).
Alright... moving on then.
*Kirby character
-Another will be added surly, but the debate continues as to who will be that character.
Waddle Dees are out of the question, since they are in Dedede contains them in his move set but... *Bandana Dee?
Surly why not? He's his right hand man. The other possible is *Galacta Knight, but he would pose a similarity to Meta Knight's performance and teh clone haters, they be calling.
But I'm not denying his chance in SMASH. I'm simply speculating a majority of fan reactions. I myself, would be all for the idea.
*Waluigi
-*Sigh* I hate to say this but his popularity rises at a quick rate. Undeniably, he would have a crapload of support for playability in this game. And unlike Geno's situation, he's already owned by Nintendo, sooooo...
If not then, I'd speculate a character from the *Wario Ware Series. Heh, it could happen.
My guess in that category would be:
-Mona
-Ashely
-Kat & Ana
Continuing on > *Yoshi Series is in a dire need for another character. An iconic enemy to use from the series is *Bandit/Lakitu but Lakitu is considered to be under Mario's series, rather than the Bandits which have appeared in Yoshi and respectively in other various Mario games. He would have no problem in gaining a memorable move set.
Aside from the newcomers I've mentioned, I do believe that there will be one 'new' character representing his/her series, being playable for the first time in SMASH bros History.
I have:
-Issac(Golden Sun)
-Ray Mk II(Custom Robo)
-Saki(Sin and Punishment)
Each are assist trophies that appeared in the last installment.
My mind is kind of dry around this time when it comes to ideas.
Although the one extreme lack of in a character's play style are mages. SMASH bros has truly never had a 'legit' mage. Iunno why I crave playing as a mage so badly, but ever since SSF2's inclusion of Black Mage , my mind came back into focus. Although there's probably a whole other side to Nintendo that I'm not going too far in-depth with.
4th party characters are completely out of the question. I hate it when someone speculates 'Spiderman' for SSB4. I don't know whether they're trying to troll their character in or if they're just plain insane. Facts are facts...
I rambled on. :\
I should wrap this up.
My ten characters are:
1. X (Mega Man X)
2. PacMan (PacMan)
[in the event of a poll decision, screw logix with those two]
3. Stylux (Metroid)
4. Ashely (Warioware)
5. Bandit (Yoshi)
6. Zoroark (Pokemon)
7. Geno (Super Mario RPG: Land of the Seven Stars)
8. Galacta Knight (Kirby)
9. Saki (Sin and Punishment)
10. Ray Mk II (Custom Robo)
So this my last bit. Heck, Nintendo could break their patterned tradition and add 3 more for the hell of it.
