Corey, you obviously don't know anything about 3rd parties, 4th partes, etc. The ONLY characters that can get into the game are 1st parties, characters owned by Nintendo, 2nd parties, characters owned by a company owned by Nintendo, such as Game Freak used to be with Pokemon, and sometimes, rarely 3rd parties, characters owned by a completely different company. HOWEVER, the third parties cannot be from a different console. For example, Master Chief from Halo cannot be in, since he has never been on a Nintendo console, and is pretty much owned by Microsoft, a company that makes a different system and is therefore a rival.
NOW, IF YOU UNDERSTAND THIS, YOU SHOULD KNOW WHO IS AND ISN'T ALLOWED IN. Those last three, although the chance is very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very scarce, they could get in. NO STAR WARS CHARACTERS NO MARVEL/DC CHARACTERS NO DREAMWORKS/20TH PICTURY/OTHER MOVIE COMPANY CHARACTERS VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS ONLY

Thanks ProDaw, I will update your list right away. And thanks generic for breaking down the difference with 1st,2nd,& 3rd parties. Cant believe we went a page and a have to make things clear. @maiz, your still missing 3 more choices.
Now corey, I hope you now understand the difference with these parties and the details of what kind of list we been looling for since the very beginning.
I went over this thread and collected all the lists you have made so far. Now I will list down which one of your choices CAN be on your list.
Silver (3rd party, Sega) Sora (3rd party, Square-Enix) Ridley (1st party, Nintendo) Petey Piranah (1st party, Nintendo) Ezio/Altiar (3rd party, Ubisoft) pick one of them only You??? (are you refering to the Mii's, let me know) Crash (3rd party, Radical Ent.) Spyro (3rd party, Insomniac Games)
Ok in total, you have about 8 or so characters which CAN be on your list. Now as a reminder, you can change you choices anytime betwwen now and the day a Smash Bros dojo is open. If the ones I listed above are your choices, then you have 2 more left. But also please pick between Ezio and Altiar, unless you went them as 2 searate choices. And tell me, are you refrring to a Mii when you had "You" as one of your choices? Please let me know

Hahaha, here's who I know FOR SURE is going to be in: 01. Little Mac 02. Waluigi 03. Krystal 04. Issac 05. Girahim (Zelda- Skyward Sword) 06. Ridley 07. Dixie Kong 08. Samurai Goroh 09. Lyn 10. Prince Fluff
I may change Fluff to Knuckle Joe, but I think I'm sticking with this.

Hahaha, here's who I know FOR SURE is going to be in: 01. Little Mac Popularity mostly resides in Western audiences, and Sakurai feels he's too limited.02. Waluigi 03. Krystal Considered a major contributor in the downfall of StarFox, as well as being retconned out of StarFox canon.04. Issac 05. Girahim (Zelda- Skyward Sword) 06. Ridley 07. Dixie Kong 08. Samurai Goroh 09. Lyn Irrelevant. It's either going to be a new Lord if a new FE comes out, or someone like Hector, who, like Marth and Ike, has been in more than one game.10. Prince Fluff I may change Fluff to Knuckle Joe, but I think I'm sticking with this. I don't mean to rain on your parade, but those three I know for sure WON'T be in. Not saying they are bad choices, but you can't claim that they're in for sure. NO newcomer is in for sure.

Not saying they are bad choices, but you can't claim that they're in for sure. NO newcomer is in for sure. I doubt that he is claiming that for sure. Maybe he is just highly confident of his choices. Now as far as the high-lighted text. I understand your point on him having the majority of his popularity in the west, but Earthbound & Fire Emblem had the majority of their popularities in the east yet their playable. I dont see why they would not do it vise versa. And Sakurai is being uncreative if that is what he seriously thinks Now as for Krystal, maybe Star Fox wasn't at it's prime during Krystal's run, but she did bring something completely new to the series and is overly popular with the fans. I agree with your thoughts on Lyn, but I dont think Nintendo would give Hector a chance in my opinion. I think if a new Fire Emblem is not in development or is already released before Smash, that they will just leave the roster with just Marth, Ike, and possibly a returning Roy.

Yeah, the East. Where Smash is MADE and Sakurai is FROM. It's obvious that the Japanese have more say than the Americans for Smash. And I can honestly see his point. A boxer would fit in the likes of Street Fighter, but in a game like Smash, they'd be limited in moves. A moveset consisting of all punches is dull, like how Sonic's moveset was dull because it primarily consisted of spinning in a ball. Little Mac fights by the rules; to see him kicking (in order to add more variety) would be awkward to me. If you can show me a decent moveset (specifically normal attacks, not specials), I'll change my mind about him.
Something completely new....you mean Adventures? The game that wasn't originally a StarFox title? The game that many people consider to be a StarFox game in name only? As for popularity, Leon, Peppy, and even SLIPPY have her beat there. She's more popular in terms of graphic fanart, however. I'm not fully against Krystal, don't get me wrong. I just have a more logical approach to her inclusion. She actually HAD a great chance until StarFox 64 3D was announced and was revealed that the game is a reboot of the series (meaning anything past the original 64 is now non-canon, even the bad@$$ Assault.) Now if there's to be a 4th StarFox character, it's most likely Leon, however, I don't feel StarFox needs a new character, considering who's left are most likely to be made into more variations (note how I didn't say "clones") of Fox.
Hector has a lot going for him, and I would take him over any other FE character, but it's true that he's a bit old. However, he still has this going for him: 1. Been in more than one game. 2. Uses an axe, so he represents another weapon in FE than just a sword. 3. One of the characters in the first Fire Emblem to be released internationally. 4. Been in both Roy's game and Lyn's game, and the two characters have been represented in Smash in some way. Fire Emblem is a big series, believe it or not. A VERY big series. I doubt it'd be left with only 2 characters. Hector is my personal choice, but I don't expect him, and I won't be too sad if he's not in.

I doubt it'd be left with only 2 characters. Hector is my personal choice, but I don't expect him, and I won't be too sad if he's not in. Your right about that. The Japanese do have a say over the Americans when it comes to ideas. But here is the catch. Why is he going to cater to one region when he is selling his title series to other regions? I think Sakurai does take American, UK, & Australia's ideas seriously. Think about it. If he rely only on Japan, we would have had Ninten playable instead of Ness in the original Smash. But since Ness's game was released outside of Japan and not Ninten's, we got Ness. Marth & Roy were originally going to be in Japan's Melee game, but grew some popularity in the states, so they were thrown in. I doubt the Japanese not favoring Little Mac as much as Americans & other regions do will effect him. I'm sure he has a fair fanbase in Japan. But then that is just my opinion We can say that Little Mac only punches, but who says we can't give him varieties of punches? Look at Marth's attacks. They are all pretty much the same moves, but in different varieties, angles, etc. Little Mac can have the same done for him. I know I made a move set and found a few move sets long time ago that sounds like a good fit. Later this week I will see if I can find some and we can see which looks better. OK, even though the Adventure game was not originally planned to be a Star Fox game, it still brought something completely different to the series, plus a new character that grabbed attention during the time. All the other new characters afterwards didn't catch anyones attention like Krystal did. Who knows what direction the Star Fox series would have went if it wasn't for Adventure. Probably just another shooter game like the previous Star Fox games before Adventure. It was Star Fox's first non-arcade style game like the last ones. I see your point about Krystal though now that Star Fox 3D is remade, but look at how many other franchises are getting N64 remakes to the 3DS and there don't seem to be any plans to eliminate any new characters on the current products of those franchises. I doubt this is the end of Krystal, unless Nintendo will go by their original plans with Krystal and have her own series. To me, fan art or not, she is too popular to just be taken out. But I defiantly agree with you that there is no need for a 4th Star Fox rep, as the series got the special treatment of 2 new reps back when Brawl was being made. But with the demands for Krystal being playable, I would not be surprised if she does get in. Now as for Hector. Sure we can go for him, but also has competition in his way with the demands for a returning Roy and many in favor for Lyn. Yes, he has been in 2 games. But one of them he had a minor role in. Not sure if that harms his chances though. Also, there have been other Fire Emblem characters that have appeared in more than one game as well other than Marth. Roy was even in a 2nd game, but even that was a minor role. So pretty much both Hector and Roy are tied in that category as far as their number of appearances in the franchise. Sure they both had a minor role in one of their appearances in the series, but the difference with their major role is that Roy was the only main character while Hector shared the main character role with Lyn & Eliwood. And yea, he uses an axe, which is a different weapon in its own way. But then again an axe still has its similarities to a sword, except being heavy and having 2 blades and 4 sharp corners. Even the issue of the axe being heavy is an issue since Ike already wields a heavy blade himself. Hector was ONE OF THE FIRST to go international, but so does Eliwood & Lyn. And yea, he was in both Roy & Lyn's game, but Roy was still the only main character in his game while Hector was in a minor role. And for Lyn's game, he was one of the 3 mains, unlike Roy who was the only main. You got a point, as big of a series as Fire Emblem is, leaving it to only 2 would not be enough. Especially since the franchise always evolves and has new cast members per sequel. Hector is not a bad choice, but me personally, I think Roy has more of an advantage since he has already been playable in a Smash game, ties with Hector in appearances in Fire Emblem, and was THE main character while Hector was ONE of the mains when you compare their major roles. Only advantage I see Hector having over Roy is the axe, but even that may not be supportive enough since Ike carries a heavy blade himself. As for Lyn, her gender & unique fighting style with the blade she carries is her only advantage, but I think she has only been in 1 game if im correct right? by the way, is there anyone else that would like to put up their list or would like to change their list?

No, I'm pretty sure we would've had Ness, not Ninten. The original Smash was planned to be a Japanese exclusive. Ness was added because he was the latest hero and was far more popular than Ninten. Evidenced on why it was because he was the latest hero was because in Melee, he was planned to be replaced by Lucas, as he was to be the latest hero. Lucas' game was postponed, however, so Ness stayed. The point is still moot because Sakurai feels he's too limited (which is why his idea of having Thomas from Urban Champion in Melee didn't make it.). As for the variety issue, yes, it's true that Marth's sword swings were made unique, but a sword is easier to make unique than a punch.
There was only one new rep for StarFox in Brawl; Wolf. Falco was in Melee, remember? And by demand, that would make someone like Geno a shoo-in, right? WRONG. There are more things to consider than just demand. Leon is the more likely choice due to being very popular (Wolf wasn't as popular as Leon until Assault), serving as Falco's rival (we got Fox's, why not Falco's?), and being in all games except the first StarFox (which StarFox 64 is a reboot of). He was even planned for StarFox 2 before they scrapped it. And unlike other 3DS remakes, StarFox 64 3D is an actual REBOOT of the series.
Gender means nothing in terms of advantage. This is what people fail to see. The only thing Lyn has going for her is her Assist Trophy appearance in Brawl, and being a recogniseable character from the first Fire Emblem to be released internationally. Being female is no advantage nor disadvantage, and unique fighting style means nothing either, as we have Ganondorf, who fights like Captain Falcon in Smash, and has his own unique style of fighting in the Zelda titles. As for Roy's "appearance" in FE7, it was EXTREMELY minor as he was an infant, and that reference was majorly missed by Westerners due to FE7 being the first game they got. How were THEY supposed to know that was Roy? Hector may have had a "minor" role in FE6, but he still had a bigger role in that game than Roy did in FE7.

All Lyn has is being an assist trophy? She was the star of the first FE game released in America. Added to this, I believe her game was the first FE game on a portable system. Don't get me wrong here. I don't support Lyn. I support Caeda, due to being female, using a spear, and being in the most recent FE game.

Can't argue with that. But as far as Little Mac's popularity in Japan. Not as much as Americans, but still exist. Not sure if a sword is that much easier to make unique as far as varieties of attacks, but I know that a punch isn't that far different. For Little Mac, there are a few varieties to work with. He can jab, body shot, high jump uppercut, haymaker, non-leaping uppercut, rush jab, combo jabs, combo haymakers, even counter attack, and can also do a boxer grapple to break combos. some may seem similar to the next, but all that needs to be done is change up the power, add something like gaining some sort of ability, etc. Yes, I knew which game Falco & Wolf debut in Smash. Sorry, I forgot to explain that part. Well, I think Leon has a chance, but I still feel they might go with Krystal since she would be easier to come up with a move set for. Plus Krystal to me seems to have always been part of the center stage in most of her games while Leon has been just a villain sidekick and a tag a long, and I can't recall him ever standing out as much. Just my opinion though. Being a reboot, maybe her might have sailed. You might have a point. Your right that the gender probably is not important, but with some statements from fans saying there aren't enough females in Smash, this might boost a bit of chance, but barely. Now you make a point about the fighting style, but I feel that her style could help break her out of the bunch of other sword users a bit. But honestly, I have my doubts she has a good chance either way with the series having so many choices. And yes, Hector had a bigger role than Roy in FE7, but then Roy had a bigger role than Hector in FE6 (correct me if that is not Roy's game). It's all vise versa in the end. But now that you mention the part of Roy being an infant was not recognized by the Westerners, it just make me wonder if they even mentioned in the game at all if it was Roy, or at least left some sort of clue that it was Roy.

And considering that all Little Mac does is punch, he would have limitations, considering that punching for all attacks is taxing on variety. Krystal would NOT be easy to come up with a moveset for. Why people think so is beyond me. Her only playable appearances were in Assault's multiplayer, where EVERYONE played the same (which is where Falco's moves SHOULD come from to make him unique), and I beleive in Command, where she drove a ship all in gameplay. Everyone says "Oh, but the staff in Adventures!", but it was FOX that used it, not her. Aside from that, the staff was never seen again after Adventures, and those were the games you could PLAY as her. And it's A LOT easier to make her (or Leon for that matter) a varation of Fox like how Falco and Wolf are than to give them a unique moveset. You misunderstood what I said. I said that while Roy's role in FE6 is great, Hector's role in both games equals that status. Roy's role in FE7 is TOO minor to count. It was a mere cameo. It is mentioned (In Japan) that FE7 is a prequel to FE6, so they knew it was Roy. All America knew was that it was a Fire Emblem game that surprisingly didn't have the characters they know (Marth and Roy). This is ironic, given Roy's miniscule appearance at the end.

Ah. I don't really know my FE history, and thought that the name "Fire Emblem" without any subtitles made a game the first. ...So therefore I don't know who Medeus is. lol.
As for the StarFox series...I don't understand Leon. He doesn't seem like a fighter to me, nor does he seem like an assist trophy. Just as a trophy. Slippy seems better as a character, to me. Leon just seems...out of place. Plus, IIRC Slippy's been in since the first game. Overall, I think Krystal>Slippy>Leon.>Peppy>Panther. Hecks yes. Peppy would fight with barrel rolls. :3

Slippy is less of a fighter than Leon. Leon has the "killer instinct" and is ruthless. Being a chameleon, he could also be given the ability to render himself invisible for short periods of time, and be able to use his tounge and tail to attack. (If Wolf uses claws, Leon should use his tounge) And this is Medeus: fireemblem.wikia.com/wiki/Medeus

No, I'm not suggesting to add fire for Mac ;D, but maybe there could be a punch that he does that can stun or leave his enemies dizzy for a moment. I was thinking something like this. His down B would be a counter. He ducks, if timed right, he would do an upward jab or maybe an uppercut. From there the foe is dizzy for a slight moment with stars spinning around their heads (for animation). Maybe the idea of Krystal using the staff is not just for the reference of Adventure, but maybe also for something to borrow. I mean Ness and I think Lucas borrowed moves as well. Oh ok, now I understand what you mean with the roles between Hector and Roy. So your saying that both their minor roles can't be compared since Roy's minor role was just a cameo appearance plus it was on recognized by fans with him being an infant and also was not mentioned. While Hector's minor role was bigger than a cameo. But should we also not compare their major roles as well? Roy had a solo main role while Hector shared his main role with 2 others. Do you think this may possibly be an issue, especially since the minor roles were very different when comparing?

Golden, the staff was originally Krystals, and she was intended to use it when the game was Dinosaur Planet, so it wouldn't be too farfetch'd to use that.

That may be, but that's like saying that Palutena should use the bow Pit uses, not Pit, as it is HER bow bestowed to Pit to use. And honestly, the only thing that should be used out of something that didn't happen is Ganondorf's sword from the Spaceworld 2000 Demo. He has it in Melee for a victory pose. It's a unique styled sword, and it would make Ganon less of a clone/semi-clone. @smashking: I just don't see any viability from a moveset of all punches. I'm sorry. That is true, but Ness and Lucas are the main characters of their games, while Krystal was a damsel in distress (Adventures), side character (Assault), and drama fodder (Command). She may have been the main character of Adventures when it was Dinosaur Planet, but Dinosaur Planet doesn't exist now; why should it be counted? As for the Hector issue, I don't care much of Hector anymore. Medeus is the way to go. He's the villain in Marth's titles (which, despite being from Marth's games, being the main villain overlooks that), doesn't use a weapon (has claws, and I assume has firebreathing skills as well), and can turn into a Dark Dragon for his Final Smash.

@golden
no problem, I will change your list right away.
I can understand if you don't see Little Mac fitting for Smash due to the limitations of his move set. So can't argue with that. Though I might try to post up several move sets of his or look through a few of them and put it all into one.
As for Krystal, I think Adventure was an important game to the Star Fox series since it was something new to the series itself instead of going with the arcade shooting style. And also showed another side of the Fox character (normally he is just avenging for his father's death & saving the galaxy) with his relation with Krystal.
omg, I forgot all about Medeus. I remember I use to want him as a playable character after Melee. We usually suggest a new lord who is a protagonist, yet we always forget about the villains of FE due to the series having so many eras. And Medeus makes sense since he is the first villain of FE. I would like to work on a move set for him. Anyone up for it?
anyone else wants to change their list or anyone want to join?
