ACTUAL POLL RESULTSI don't care(-1) NO(+1)(Damn it) Petey PiranhaHere is the moveset I have thought of: Neutral Special: Goo Spit Petey spits a ball of goo than, upon landing, creates a goo poll which will affect opponents. Only a number of 3 may exist at a time. It may either: - Cause slipping.
- Damage.
- Slow down movement.
Side Special: Tornado Petey uses his large leave-like arms to whip up a minor Tornado. After launched and covering a distance, it will move slightly toward petey's original position, and then move as it originally did. It will be capable of trapping projectiles. Upon trapping an enemy, it will knock him away just like the hyrule castle tornado, but more horizontally. Up Special: Ungraceful Flight Petey maniacally flaps his arms and rises. Requires no button pressing after activation. 1:20 Down Special (On Ground): Rooting Petey digs into the ground completely. The following actions are available. - Press the up button to dig out of the ground
- Press the attack button to quickly rise and attack.
- Press a directional button to dig out a significant distance to the left or right.
- Press a directional button with the attack button. Petey digs out to the left or right and attacks.
By pressing the special attack button instead of the attack one, when petey digs out, the projectiles from 1:50 appear instead. Down Special (In air): Piranha Flop Petey falls onto the ground with force. It's like Bowser's bomb, except for the fact it conserves momentum and is slower. Onward 2:40

I like it so far, but side special seems a bit odd to me. Just so you know, on the old SSBC website it said the specials were Goop Spit, Bite, Leaf Cutter, and Goop Stu. doesn't make much sense, but thought I'd bring it up.

I don't care, after all... HE WAS TOO BIG BACK THEN
Regarding the side special, I thought the minor returning movement would make it more balanced, as well as make it resemble the actual tornado from sunshine.

lol10char Yup. Want him in. Replace Bowser Jr. since they represent the same thing but Petey is moar unique. You know what? I used to not care about Petey, but now I HOPE he doesn't make it in EVER. This has to be THE MOST ignorant post I've seen all day, and it's not even 9 in the morning yet (for me). They do NOT "represent the same thing". Bowser Jr.: -Major antagonist in Sunshine -Bowser's right hand man, er....kid in multiple titles following, like the Galaxy titles, New Super Mario Bros. (although, he's considered higher than Bowser in this game, as Bowser is now Dry Bowser, who Jr. brought to life), New Super Mario Bros. Wii (notice that he has a higher position that his siblings....). -Playable character in multiple sports titles. -Working his way into the Mario Big 8 as the new 9th member. Petey: -A boss that wouldn't change much of the story if didn't exist. -Playable in a few sports titles, but not nearly as much as Jr. -A boss in Brawl that could've been some other generic giant creature. (Notice how NONE of Petey's "uniqueness" or actual abilites come into play. He just hold cages, uses them as weapons, and jumps. Shows how much Petey is worth.) And "more unique" is subjective, because I can easily counter with there being no one to use a magic paintbrush in Crusade. I understand that you guys like Petey and are upset that he's gone, but the fanboyism has gone too far! Especially when one has the NERVE to suggest an actual important character be cut in his stead. Even more insulting that apparently Rosalina and EFFing GENO has more priorty than Jr. in their mind. Seriously. You guys are being just as annoying as the Geno fanboys.

Alright.
Thoughts on the moveset?

Well, the real reason why I said that is this:
But then when I went to copy it, I found this:
And to be honest. I'd absolutely love Petey in. But if he doesn't get in, OK. Just like to show points.
And why I said he's more unique than Bowser Jr. Is because we have no giant plants, but we do have a turtle. Bowser Jr. is basically a mini bowser, and at least SOME of the moves would be similar to Bowser. But Ok.

Yeah, because same premise = same moveset, right?
Donkey and Diddy are both simians. Body shape also plays a role. Jr. couldn't do HALF the moves Bowser could do due to his lighter weight and smaller frame. As well as tiny claws. Jr. would be punching and kicking people instead, as well as using his paintbrush as a weapon and possibly a Shadow Mario transformation, which would involve many paint and water based attacks. The only thing similar would be shell spinning, as Jr. can't breathe fire either.

He could still use is claws as a slashing attack. Added to that, he could use fire.

Make him fire a mouth fireball. (not like Mario or Luigi)

I read it before you edited it.
But now that I look at his art. I see that the claws are TOO small to be used. Misconception, sorry.

Yeah, as I noted, I was wrong about him not being able to breathe fire. I forgot about NSMBW. Probably because I suck so bad, I never reached him....(Played the game at nephew's house)
But that's another way to make it unique. If it makes contact with someone, it works like Ness' PK Fire as they're sent flying. Only, it stays ON THEM, not at the space of where they were.

Petey never had an important role in the series that played along with the story. He was just a mini boss for a level in the game, you move on and thats it. His characteristics and intentions are unknown. At least we know many things about bowser jr.
Well, many can talk about his recurring appearances in the spin offs, but koppa troopa, boo, and other generic enemies been playable before him.
The move set looks good and all, but it is the character itself and his lack of importance to the mario series that effects him here.
I really see noothing very unique about him. Just because he is a giant plant does not mean he is unique. Sure he stands out as something different, but nothing special. Characters like olimar are very unique with his use of pikmins, pokemon trainer with switching between 3 pokemon, zelda with a transforrmation, ice climbers for being a double duo, lucario with his power increase once his damage percentage does. Those are very unique characters. Petey only adds another heavyweight to the roster, nothing else.
To replace bowser jr with him is a terrible idea. Bowser jr has had important roles while did nothing for the story itself.
Also, there are numbers of characters that hold more importance than him. The 4 already playable mario series smash vets, toad, bowser jr, waluigi, rosalina, and geno to a very lesser extent.
All the characters I just mentioned is way more than enough for crusade. If petey gets in with out replacing a mario series character, then it makes 10 reps for that one series and that itself is a big overdose. Even if petey replaced any of the ones mentioned above, he is less important than all of them. Hell even geno had a major role and he isnt even owned by nintendo. That is sad for petey.
Plus being a recurring character, how come after being in the series for about decade he is yet to play any major or supporting role to the story? And the sad thing is that he debuted as a mini boss and has never elevated to anything better since. Sure he was playable in spin offs, but so have like75% of mario characters and enemies in existance

I think Golden has made me think like him. But yeah... It's a NO for me. For all the reasons I've already stated. He's just not a big character in the franchise. He doesnt even really appear much any more.

Alright Golden. Was it YOU who voted "NO"? No, I voted "Don't care". I was planning on voting "No" after I saw Generic's post that I responded to, but there was no Retract Vote option. And even if I did, what does it matter to you? A poll is a poll. The point is for people to vote how they choose, not vote for what you want. @nights: Embrace it. You'll see logic in everything you can.
