Let's try this again, shall we? Pulseman- Another SEGA rep who uses Electric powers Lip- A girl from the popular Nintendo puzzle game Gold Trainer- Chikorita, Quilava, and Feraligatr Lyn- Well known Fire Emblem female Funky Kong- A well known Kong Masked Man/Claus- Antagonist of Mother 3 Liquid (Snake)- Snake's brother originally from MGS2 Takamaru- The Nintendo samurai from Nazo no Murasame-jō Vote. EDIT: I can't edit the poll, so you can only vote for one character.

I voted Gold Trainer. ANY pokemon rep is better than Rival. Well any logical one. Stuff about other chars: Pulseman-Who da heck? I think this may or may not become somewhat like Aero the Acro-Bat: Good game, not well known. Lip: She'd be good as a Japan-Only classic char. I'd vote for her too if I could vote twice. Lyn: Not my choice for a FE character, but OK. Funky Kong: Not before Dixie Kong. If Dixie Kong's in, sure. Claus: Sure, he's unique, kinda, but he represents the same thing Lucas does. If any third EB char, Porky or Ninten. Porky>ninten though. Liquid Snake: Before Gray Fox? No. Takamaru: If we have a samurai, it should be him.

This to me looks like a more reasonable list of characters. I Voted For Lip She is the main protagonist of Panel De Pon. This game is one of Nintendo's first popular puzzle games. Also, several series have since pay homage to Panel De Pon by copying its game play. Games like Pokemon Puzzle League, a Yoshi game & Wario game I cant remember the name. Never heard of Pulseman, but seeing how he is Sega, I rather not vote since we seem to have enough reps for that company. I don't support a 2nd trainer. One is enough for me. I like Lyn, but Im happy with just Marth, Ike, & Roy. Though I dont mind having Micaiah if we can have a 4th rep. Not a fan of Funky Kong. DK series is well represented with Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, King K Rool, & Dixie Kong. Im surprised that the Mother series doesn't have a new rep. I dont mind Claus/Masked Man, but Porky is a more important character than him. Thus Porky should come first. By the way, I am in the middle of spriting Porky, will post up on my art thread soon Dont really like Liquid Snake. Having Snake & Grey Fox only is enough to please the fans. Though not a fan of Takamaru, but he is a better choice than 2/3 of the 3rd parties we have. Balloon Fighter & Duck Hunt Dog are far better retro reps than Takamaru. But I dont mind Takamaru playable.

Dixie Kong isn't in, last roster posted Smashking. Nor was Gray Fox.

Yea, I know that. But they should be seriously considered when you look at a roster of 80

Rival > GSC Trainer imo. You're representing the starters. Again. If I want to use water, fire, or grass, I'll choose the normal Pokemon Trainer, thanks.
As for this poll... I'm leaning towards Takamaru or Lip, but Pulse Man would give Sega another rep and would give Crusade more uniqueness. As much as I'd love Lyn, I'm not voting for her... (Why not Hector?) EDIT: Voted Lip in the end. Takamaru's moveset wouldn't be unique enough.

Remind me again why ANY trainer is a better choice than Zoroark? >_> I would vote for Gold Trainer, but I want Zoroark more. So this gets 0 votes from me.
EDIT: WAITAMINIT
YOU didn't come up with this though. We had this idea a LONG time ago. Nonetheless, it IS better than Rival...

Damn, why couldn't you have more than one choice available.
I won't officially vote, but I suppot Gold Trainer (please call him Ethan....), Funky Kong, Liquid Snake, and Takamaru. Please give the 4 of them 1 point for me.
Reasoning:
Pokemon Trainer Red was added because of FR/LG. So Pokemon Trainer Ethan would make it in due to HG/SS. Also, his Pokemon counter Red's due to him canonically beating Red in G/S/C/HG/SS. That, and I'm sort of biased with this as Feraligatr and me go WAY back...
The Donkey Kong series is Nintendo's 4th biggest series, and Funky Kong has gotten a lot of things going for him. He was in Mario Kart Wii before any other new Kong or even K. Rool., and was voted as the Kong that people miss in DKCR. He also would be a big weapons user, as he holds a whole warehouse of contraband.
Liquid Snake, is an important Metal Gear character. Not only that, but he is far more agile and acrobatic than Snake (evident by a bunch of uneccesary flips in cutscenes just to show off), and if I remember correctly, has psychic powers. Not only that, but for a Final Smash, he could control a Metal Gear, and who doesn't want to do that?
Takamaru is the most likely retro character for Smash due to having Sakurai's blessing and guest appearance in Samurai Warriors 3. Aside from that, he's a TRUE samurai, unlike Goroh, who's a samurai in name only.

Coming back to this for a sec:
Remember this? This was the list of Pokemon reps that you said would be considered if Rival ended up getting the boot. HOWEVER. Zoroark was already on the roster, which puts him higher than all of those. RaLord is already spriting Zoroark as well, which puts him well over Gold Trainer, who would need three times as many sprites, Darkrai, who only has HORRIBLY BAD and incomplete sprites, and just about everyone else besides Meowth, who has sprites.
And now for something I've been waiting quite a while to say: DMX, you want another trainer in? GET SPRITING. I hereby challenge you to sprite, for EACH of Gold Trainer's pokemon: The idle, a smash attack, a special OTHER than D-special, and the D-Special, as well as post the rest of the special moveset for each of them. Maybe after you've done this we'll be more willing to take a SECOND trainer over Zoroark. Why am I asking this? Because you constantly say sprites are the largest issue, and yet you are suggesting the characters that would need more sprites than any other character on the roster. We already have a spriter for Zoroark: RaLord. He's already made progress. Look at me. I wanted a character in, I made sprites. Sure, he was rejected by Phantom (and now you), but now I'm even putting the effort in to completely resprite him so he can be reconsidered. Now look at you. You're suggesting a character that needs a TON of sprites. Are YOU willing to put in the work to keep him on the roster? If so, go right ahead. Prove that I'm wrong.

After debating on it and sleeping on it, I chose Lip. Sorry, Ethan, though I voted for both of ya in GY's poll.

and just about everyone else besides Meowth, who has sprites. So nobody cares about the fact that Deoxys has a full sheet? :/ Sir, you've just got 1 exalt from me. GOOD JOB! EDIT: Wait a sec... Probably EACH of these characters would need to be edited off a base or made from scratch, save for maybe Pulseman, but would still look horrible in the game. :/

I choose to sprite when I want to. I want Pokemon Trainer done first, then I'll worry about any other Pokemon. In fact, he could be in 0.8...

Really? He could be done in 0.8, when the only sheet we have is Squirtle, and at that it isn't even FINISHED? Heck we don't even have a BASE for Ivysaur! And the Charizard sheet wouldn't fit too well! And as of now, "I choose to sprite when I want to". Is basically meaning "I don't accept your challenge, as I can't sprite them but I'd love them in". So yeah...

I chose Lyn, just cause she's the one I'm most familiar with. Gold trainer sounds fine, but I prefer something like Cyndaquil, Bayleef and Feraligatr... mainly cause the meganium line is my least favourite, and theoretically speaking the middle pokemon will usually be the worst (cause the baby poke will be fast and the adult poke will be long-ranged and powerful).
Lyn would make a great character to add now, cause she has two of the flashiest critical hits in any fire emblem game. And she's my favourite lord from her game, cause Eliwood is terrible at fighting and Hector is awkward as hell.

The longer you wait, the longer you'll have to argue with us. Just sayin'. In any case, you keep calling things gimmicky when in reality a second Pokemon Trainer would be copying someone who's ALREADY really gimmicky. At least Zoroark on her own would have an original gimmick.

Wow, look at Lip go. It would be fun to play as her. I am going to work on a move set for her when I have the change and post it somewhere I might make my own and even sprite my own Lip, but first, here is a Lip move set from the Smashboards Forum. www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=12905838&postcount=6719 If you guys don't like, we can discuss which works best. This is the only sprites for Lip found online that can be edited

Lyn is the most logical choice. She's recognizable, seems easy to sprite, and is a decent FE rep considering she starred in the first North American FE release.
But there is a downside, it would be hard to come up with a decent moveset because she, unlike Marth and Ike, only appeared in one game and had no real defining characteristics.
As for the other characters: Pulseman - I agree with whoever said there are too many Sega reps. Lip - If the devs are willing to sacrifice the item, she would make a good Assist Trophy. Gold Trainer - No. Having TWO Pokemon Trainers is overkill, and a third would just be a hassle and a waste of a character. Funky Kong - would make a fantastic Assist Trophy, although if he was playable I wouldn't mind either. Claus/Masked Bro - No. Even having Lucas playable is a stretch, in my opinion. Liquid Snake - Ocelot would be a better choice, but 2 MGS reps is fine. Another possible idea for an AT. Takamaru - Sure, although he isn't a well-known character and his recent games, quite frankly, suck ass.
