You put the files on an SD card, as well as the Stack Smash stage, which tricks the stage builder into thinking that it's loading a stage, and instead loads the hacked version of Brawl.

Actually, there's a problem. I went to the stage builder thing, note that BUDK wasn't there, I went to the Homebrew Channel, I went to the homebrew browser, I went to utilities, I downloaded Gecko, I went to my computer and put the character in the gecko folder in my SD card (which is inside the apps folder), I went to my wii, loaded Gecko, went to Brawl, chose the character, went to the stage, but the game froze. Any ideas?

Which character? Was it just a custom texture or an entirely new character?

It was Ridley, replacing Charizard. On Brawl Vault, it was the first one when you search for Ridley.

Well, all I've ever tried is Brawl+ with some texture hacks for R.O.B., kirby, and a couple other characters, so I can't help much. It worked for me when I used it. What firmware are you running?

...firmware?... All I know is that I downloaded Gecko from the Utilities part of the Homebrew Browser, haven't downloaded Brawl + or Minus, and that I put the hacks in the Gecko folder, in the apps folder. Are all of those things right, or do you think I need Brawl + or Minus to activate the hacks?

Firmware is the version of the Wii's Operating System that you're running. You're probably running 4.3.
I think you need Brawl+. Did you rename the textures also?

I kept them as they were. For instance, Ridley's was something like riddle me this. Should I name that Charizard, and put that in the Brawl+ folder?

You need to rename it Lizardmon00,01,02,03,04 or whichever costume your replacing. Then it'll work. Are you talking about a costume replacement or a moveset?

I think Ridley's just a costume replacement. Why lizardmon?

They didnt change the game files to the english localized pokemon names. So they kept charizards japanese ones. AKA Lizardmon.
Yeah. Do you have a PCS and a PAC file?

Looked up a walkthrough; did you wait five seconds before selecting the second character?

I don't believe I did. Can you send me the walkthrough link? @sumika: No, its a rar file. Though I belive a file I tried before that I deleted was a PAC file.

That shouldnt matter. Hold on Generic, I'll give you a big walkthrough of this. I've been moddin mah brawlz for a long time now.
Okay. Step one.
You have Brawl + Correct?
If so. Go into the folder called "Fighter". Or just use the search function to find the folder called "PokeLizardon" Go into there. Extract Ridleys costumes, Rename them "FitPokeLizardon00.PCS" For the PCS file, ANd "FitPokeLizardon00.PAC" for the Pac file. Then take your SD card out. Put it in your Wii, Load Brawl Through Gecko then Select Charizards first Costume, and it Should Be Ridley.
And if that doesnt work. I'll upload my Personalized things for Brawl. While it wont be Brawl + if you play normal brawl, you'll get new stages and whatnot.
I'm off to take a shower now.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, Cause I followed that exaclty and didn't work. So I decided to download Brawl-, instead. I took the private folder with everything inside, and I put the Ridley file into the PokeLizardon folder. Then I replaced FitPokeLizardon.pac with FitPokeLizardon.rar. It said that it might not work with the changed file name. According to the instructions, it said to only load this with smashstack. However, I uninstalled the Homebrew channel and bootmii, but when I went back, its supposed to show the Gecko program, but for some reason it didn't. Any help?

You have to extract the folder. = w=' It cant be a rar.

K, here's what you're doing wrong: A RAR file is a compression file, much like a zipped folder, but it requires a program such as 7zip or WinRar to open the archive. The files you're looking for are inside the RAR file, not the RAR file itself. You have to get 7zip, then extract the archive into the folder.

Yeah... It didn't. Sorry I'm being such a pain, guys. The zipping of it worked, and there were two files for fitpokelizardon, and they had the two zeroes at the end, which I deleted because the one in the fighter folder didn't have them. Should I have kept them?
