The Wii is backwards compatible. You can play every gamecube game on a wii.

And you cant really say the 3DS is like the Wii. It just came out. And it'll boom with games soon enough.

It hasn't even come out yet. It's released in japan on the 26th.
I still don't get why they're releasing games a month before the system comes out though.
