I don't like how the Kongs, Yoshi, and Wario aren't in the same row as the Mario characters...

They are related to the Mario series.
Donkey Kong debuted alongside Mario, and in multiple games, DK (and sometimes Diddy and other characters like Dixie, Funky, K. Rool, etc.) appears in a Mario game. It's usually just sports games, but you don't see any Wario characters other than him in there...

I suppooooooose. But if DK would get enough people from his own series, it shouldnt really be near mario too much.

Whether it's due to being a Mario related series or due to debut date, DK will ALWAYS be near Mario.

In Smash Bros., they consider the old DK and the current DK as the same deal. That's why DK appears after Mario in the original Smash Bros.
The only time they mention otherwise in Smash is through Snake's Codec Message for DK.
Honestly, I don't see how Cranky could've been the old DK. Diddy Kong was originally going to be the new design for DK Jr., but he was too drastically different.

In Smash Bros., the "old DK" and the "new DK" are one and the same. Check Melee's trophy for example.

I thought it was like this: NES DK -> Father to DK Jr. -> DK Jr. grows up, has the Donkey Kong we know today as a kid That would mean DK Jr. -> Cranky Kong NES Dk -> R.I.P. Course, we don't know this. But what we DO know is that NES DK =/= today's DK |

Mario would have to be pretty damn old, then.
Aside from that, in Smash Bros., both DK's are one and the same.

Personally, I think some of your choices are a bit meh.
But hey, it's sorta biased. If I came up with a roster, it'd probably biased as well.
