Every fighting game has one pretty much, am I right? This one must have one, too. I've actually been working on one. Its coming along very nicely, IMO. It's obviously a character who doesn't seem like a fighter, but becomes one for the game anyway. I'm a decent spriter, so the sprites I made aren't attrocious, but I can't post 'em right now. I can PM the devs too see what they think. If this character actually got in, it should be secret IMO.  ...Unless of course, the devs already got a joke character in mind. |

Waluigi
Mr.G&W
If Crash or Viewtiful Joe gets in(I'm surprised no one has requested him), they'd be considered jokeys, i think.

Wario Waluigi Mr.G&W If Crash or Viewtiful Joe gets in(I'm surprised no one has requested him), they'd be considered jokeys, i think. Well, Wario has already been in Brawl, and he wasn't the joke character. I'm pretty sure that was R.O.B. Waluigi has been requested to be in Smash almost as much as Ridley, so he definately wouldn't be a joke character. Mr. Game and Watch was the joke character in Melee, so he technically isn't one anymore. Even if he is in Crusade. Viewtiful Joe is in MvC3, so he wouldn't be a joke. The joke character in that game is MODOK anyway. Crash wouldn't be a joke either, he has fighting and platforming experience. A joke character is a character from somewhere, it doesn't even have to be from a game, that absolutely nobody expects. They usually have pretty funny moves, but even if they don't, it's te sheer shock of their inclusion that gets you thinking. |

I'm pretty sure that was R.O.B. Oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, what are you talking about? R.O.B. saved the video game industry, he totally deserved to be in brawl. If anyone, Wario was the joke character. I mean, just look at his moveset! Or Olimar. NOBODY expected a one-inch tall humanoid alien to be in a fighting game. |

He's been in an Atari game before, and has a game for the iPhone.
Though, he'd have to be nerfed...and have an apology in the credits...

all the characters named above are not joke characters if you ask me. I think the only joke characters ever in Smash were Jigglypuff and Pichu.

So it isn't really unexpected. Pichu was probably either a popular enough character to put into Melee or the devs were lazy and just made a Pikachu clone. Jiggs was put as the second Pokemon rep in SSB64 probably because it was easiest to just re-design Kirbys model. Ever notice they have very similar standard moves? Mr. Game and Watch and R.O.B. never fought anything, ever. So, They would be joke characters because of that. |

gigapichu - I think they added Pichu to give the 2nd gen of pokemon some representation in the roster (it just came out or something), but they were also too lazy to redesign him to be different. @gy - Let us revive the King expansion, no?
