Day 1.
Went exploring quite a large distance from my home. Started digging into a hill, eventually came across a coal deposit somewhat above me. As I excavated it, I noticed that there was nothing behind it. Well, not really... There was an enormous pit. The coal was about half-way down. There was no way back up, but I managed to make my way down safely so I could turn back at some point. At the bottom of the pit was a medium-sized hole leading into a cavern.
But this was no ordinary cavern.
I looked into it and there was a lavafall. I decided to go down and explore. As I passed it, I noticed some redstone and harvested it. I continued to travel down the cave. It was much bigger than I thought.
Day 2.
My God, this cavern is enormous. I haven't been able to explore the entire thing yet. There's tons of iron ore, coal, and redstone down here as well. I'm beginning to run out of torches, however. I also found some Lapis Lazuli, which is always a treat.
Day 3.
Continued exploration. I had to make another set of torches today. I'm no longer sure if it's day or night, I can just tell by the change in the music that something's shifted. I have so much cobblestone now it's not even funny.
Day 4.
Found a diamond deposit today. I was extremely happy. I have yet to return to the surface, however. There's also a lot of iron, coal, and redstone all over the place.
Day 5.
While mining through an iron deposit, I nearly fell down into an even larger section of the cavern. I could see what appeared to be the bottom at long last; it was marked by an expanse of lava. I started putting up torches everywhere it was dark. I am once again running out.
Day 8. Still have not finished exploring. It seems as though this place is endless. I've gone through two stone pickaxes and one iron pickaxe already. I'm running out of wood to make torches and pickaxes.
Day 13.
I think I'm going crazy now. Sure, I found some more diamonds, so that was great. But I'm not even sure if I can get back out of here. I know I left myself a path, but this place is like a huge maze. So far I've found just about every mineral besides Gold. Had I found some, I would've made a clock by now.
Day 17.
Began to cover up the lava with cobblestone. I'm not sure if this is because it was a huge safety hazard or if it was to prevent myself from committing suicide to finally get out.
Day 19.
I am no longer mining for Iron and Coal, or redstone, or anything else like that. I feel the need to completely cover up the lava, and have run out of cobblestone. I'm now mining purely to cover the lava with cobblestone.
Day 20.
Found an area where a waterfall and the lava meet. I think the cavern is playing tricks on me, because I took out my diamond pickaxe, and when I broke the obsidian, it just fell into the lava beneath it. This has happened with every piece of obsidian I've found naturally.
Day 22.
Running out of wood for torches and pickaxes. I'm nowhere near finishing with covering the lava. I think I might go insane soon.
Day 25.
Today, while making a path over a lava pit, I accidentally jumped in. I immediately headed for the nearest shore, and managed to get out. Luckily I had a bucket of water to put out the fire. My heart nearly stopped from the thought of losing all my work.
Day ??.
I once again fell into the lava while attempting to cross it. Unfortunately, I fell in from a higher altitude and was unable to get out in time. I've lost approximately: One diamond pickaxe, 5 diamonds, at least 128 coals, 3 iron pickaxes, one iron axe, two iron shovels, two iron swords, one stone sword, 70 redstones, 30 lapis lazuli, 40 torches, 20 iron ores, and various other things I can not recall. I'm not sure if I want to return to the cavern or not. I keep an emergency chest of supplies at my home in case I ever die (with one of each tool in iron, some food, flowers, and various other materials I may or may not need), but it's nothing compared to what I lost.
