Well, I decided that once I get a bit more free time I'm going to begin working on my game. Here's my plan:
-It will be coded in Java (since I took a Java class last year and know more Java than GML).
-The controls will be rather unique: WASD to move, but the left and right mouse clicks will perform actions; left mouse will essentially be an "A" button, it can be combined with the directional keys to perform the equivalents of tilts and smash attacks. Right mouse will be special attacks, and here's where the point-and-click part makes the most sense: R.O.B.'s laser. I can create a laser beam that goes directly to the point that was clicked, so that explains the mouse a bit more. It can also be combined like the smash attacks and such to perform the different specials.
Here's how the story will work, basically:
It begins 200 years prior to SSE; R.O.B. goes on an exploration/research mission with a team of fellow robots to the Island of the Ancients. Upon arrival, they find that there is a robot species already living on the island; a slightly more primitive form of their own selves. They are greeted like gods by the natives due to their advanced technology and knowledge.
As time passes, generations go by, and the members of the exploration team eventually die out. 5 years prior to SSE, R.O.B. is the only remaining member of the original exploration team. As he is still revered as a god-like figure by the natives (now much more advanced), he is referred to as the "Master Robot".
Then, we get to a few months prior to SSE, where the game actually begins.
On an average day, Master Robot is walking around the island on an inspection; however, it seems there is trouble at one of the port towns. Master Robot flies over and discovers his people fighting a man clad in dark purple clothes and armor, with a cape to match. This man is none other than Ganondorf. The man is badly injured, but has completely wrecked multiple R.O.B.s. Master Robot approaches the man and orders him to stop, or otherwise be killed. Ganondorf simply laughs, stating "What could you possibly do to me? I have the power of God on my side!"
At that moment, a hole rips open in the sky, and Master Hand comes out, officially declaring the Island of the Ancients and its entire population under his control.
I'll leave it at that for now. I don't want to reveal the ENTIRE story, or else there wouldn't be as much of a point to playing the game, would there?
