You're just making it sound like we should have just Nintendo characters. There just aren't enough of them.

Not really saying that it should be a Nintendo only game. With a roster of 80 ofcourse we gone need several 3rd parties to fill it up. The issue is that there are just too many suggestions for more and more 3rd parties and even 4th parties knowing that there are still plenty of 1st and 2nd parties we still have available for suggestions.

I can think of 80 characters for a pure-only Nintendo smash... To be honest, like there is the fight between iPhone and Droid, with the Blackberry on the sidelines, the main developing teams are Nintendo and Sega, with Capcom on hte sidelines. The thing is with the Representation thing, adding any other characters for the Mario series would be useless. Yet Mairo is one of the most popular Nintendo games. I tried rating Bowser Jr., who is certainly worthy, but I just couldn't. Popularity, uniquenss, and moveset potential are definitely worthy components, but representation can be absolutely ruined for 1st and 2nd party characters. A smash game should revolve moar around Nintendo characters than 3rd party characters.
Although to be honest, I'd perfer Zant to Midna...I've never seen Midna actually fight, aside from being on Wolf Link, and all she did was lock on to targets and turn into a beast. Zant actually fought.

I agree that adding Bowser Jr in will only give him less points on a representation point of view, but the thing is that most of those who do suggest a Nintendo character are only looking at like the main 5-10 franchises. What about those franchises from Nintendo that dont have a representative yet or could at least use a 2nd one? For example, Animal Crossing is very popular, yet there is not 1 rep for that series yet. You can say the same with Golden Sun, Legend of Starfy, etc. Hell, Pikmin is getting very popular, why not add in Louie? Also, why not bring back a classic character from years ago that was very popular? there's so many.

Golden Sun, Starfy, and as I hate to say it, Animal Crossing is worthy of being in too. But alas, Louie...I don't see how he would be any different from Olimar. But really Balloon Fighter, IMO, is the best choice for the next NES character.

Louie can use Bulbmins instead of Pikmins. Yes, the style of using them like Pikmins may be the same as Olimar's, but they will be different attacks in its own ways, especially since Bulbmins bite, tackle, etc. So the fighting style may be the same, but the attacks can be different since Louie will be using a completely different species. It also represents the Pikmin series a bit more since Pikmins are not the only species available.
Also, to answer about Zant and Midna, many characters had limited moves to work with from the beginning and had to be well thought out. And Midna has showcased several abilities that can be reinvented to become useful attacks. Maybe borrowing a move or 2 from Zant if possible. I made a moveset for her if interested in looking at it.
Midna is far more popular than Zant, why go with someone with mediocre fame when you have one that is popular like Midna?

If we want to go for obscure Nintendo characters, why not Captain N? Or Mike Jones?

Ryu from Ninja Gaiden is definitely NOT Nintendo. Frogger's Konami Arthur's Capcom Pac-Man's Namco Ninten and Poo are the only ones Nintendo you named, yet they were made by Hal Lab., a 2nd Party to Nintendo.
