If it is Starfy, I can accept that.
As for the heavily requested, I have no clue on this. There were plenty of "most requested characters".
But unless Rival Trainer gets cut, I still have a problem.

I think we should post up the roster list we thought was finalized in this thread and take a look at it

Why would they get made at us for that?
first of all, one of the developers themselves posted up the current roster (at the time). And no one here was pushing for anybody to reveal the whole roster.
second, phantom started the speculations when he announced that 3 anonymous characters have been replaced. So really, are we wrong for trying to speculate information we barely know much about?

If they already had a HEAVILY REQUESTED character on the roster, why remove them?

Ok so this is what we have
REMOVED Aero The Acro-Bat
a popular Nintendo character who originated from Japan and later came to the US
a highly requested character
REPLACED WITH
character who influenced shooting games
character who starred in one of the most hardest games
retro character who will be very unique and according to dev. didnt have potential.

I still insist that the last one is the Prince from Katamari Damacy.

I hope not. I would have to say Balloon Fighter.

But pretty much everyone knows that Balloon Fighter has lots of moveset potential. So either it isn't him, or they're ignoring the fans again.

I doubt it is the Prince since he is not a retro character and his series didnt start till 2004

Haggar is retro and was said to not have potential. Arthur starred in one of the most hardest games. and I'm lost on the influencing shooting games. The only ones that come to mind are Laughing Dog who was confirmed not to be in (who would also fit for retro with no potential) or Duke Nukem.
Wait, Haggar, Arthur, and Duke? THOSE ARE THE THREE MANLIEST CHARACTERS IN GAMING!!! I solved the riddles!

I think golden could be right, but is duke really retro?

He doesn't have to be; I have him in the "influence shooting games" category.

Ok so you got Duke under the shooting influence category.
And is hagger really retro cause he still had games that came out in early 2000.
and I can agree with the category Arthur is in right now

I beleive retro being that he WAS in an old classic. I don't think it means that the character hasn't appeared since that classic.

If they haven't appeared for upwards of ten years, that should hurt their score.

We need Multiquote... Red, Pacman isn't part of Nintendo, and I believe he ws released in America the same time as Japan. el, the reason why they'd take out a heavily requested character is to replace him with a character they think more people'd play as. And by retro, I believe they mean in an old game, like Balloon Fighter or Devil World. EDIT: I've been looking at reviews for 3DS, and I encountered one on Super Monkey Ball. Then I read a part that said they had a smash-esque minigame. Then I recalled this. I know super monkey ball ain't retro, but he'd certainly be revolutionary to smash and doesn't have much moveset potential. EDIT 2: So now my thoughts are: Bill Rizer(Contra) Ryu Hayabusa(Ninja Gaiden) Aiai(Super Monkey Ball)

I doubt its Aiai since we have enough Sega characters as it is with so much more coming
