Hear me out on this one: His current pokemon are pretty poor choices. So, I suggest 3 new ones: Rhydon - The first Pokemon ever made, and has statues all over the Pokemon world. Many Pokemon villains are known to use him, including Blue and Giovanni. Rhydon would be the heavyweight of the group. Heracross - He has appeared in quite a few of the rivals teams, including Barry in DPP and Blue's rematch in FRLG. Though he is a fighting type like Lucario, his moveset can be completely different. I imagine him being like Zangief in Street Fighter - lots of throws. Heracross would be the lightweight of the group. Zoroark - The mascot for the latest generation, Zoroark has even been mentioned by fans to replace the Rival as a whole! If that hasn't sold this, Zoroark was used by N (Who is essentially the rival/villain in that game) in his final battle in Black and White. Zoroark would be the middleweight of the group. Opinions? Concerns? I'm not completely sold with Heracross but I have no better ideas...

The way I see it, either this, the Eevee team, or replacing Rival. If we go this way, I support this idea except Grovyle should replace Heracross since Brendan used him in R/S/E; either that or Combusken.

Even though I don't like the idea of Zoroark being tied down like this, I support this. As for a 3rd Gen., (if necessary) Deoxys should come back. After all, 2 Pokemon Newcomers per game...

I support Team Rocket/Meowth or just Meowth alone to replace the current rival trainer.

I came up with a better idea than any Rival Trainer. Check my new poll which is much better than my old one.

I came up with a better idea than any Rival Trainer. You finally admit it. I'm saving this.

You may think it's better, but I don't...

If there was a second Trainer in Smash, this new one Ethan w/Chikorita/Quilava/Feraligatr is the most likely one.

Question, who is repping the 5th gen? I dont think the Pokemon roster should be complete without a 5th gen

I say the Newcomers should be Pokemon Trainer Ethan and Zoroark.

Gunna throw out an idea for the Rival Trainer:
First off, he can switch in either order. When using down special, if you hold up, it will reverse the order of switching.
And, for Zoroark's special ability: Say you're Rhydon. No matter who you switch to, it will look like you switched to Heracross! Only once you attack or get hit will it reveal which of the 2 you switched to. Mindgames galore!
As far as each of the three's playstyles, Zoroark would be like Fox - fast and weak. But he'd also have a lot of tricks and illusions to confuse his opponents, such as attacks cancelling into other attacks. Heracross would be medium overall (Even though he's the light one) but his moves will concentrate on controlling where the opponent goes via throws and horn slams. Rhydon would be like Bowser - slow, strong, and heavy. Fairly obvious. All three would have their own unique final smashes as well - Illusion Barrage, Reversal, and Horn Drill.

We should try to make a different type of trainer, instead of the protagonist/antagonist. Say, make a champion trainer. He has Dragonite, Metagross and Garchomp (three classic "champion" pokemon) and works like the normal Pokemon trainer. I think using generic starter pokemon could get boring eventually.
the two new 5th gen reps could be Victini and Zoroark. They seem to be the most popular and recognised atm.

I think your idea of Zoroark is a little gimmicky.
