After looking at Evil Ryu, why do you have him as the only alt? What makes Ryu special over, say, Mario?
What I'm suggesting is add a few more 'clones' to the roster, selectable as Evil Ryu is. Nothing complicated or difficult to sprite, just simple clones.
Best examples for this would be Dr. Mario and Pichu. Movesets are pretty much identical to the original, main differences being stats and possibly FS (As well as Pills vs Fireballs for Mario). It also completes the Melee roster!

Ancient Minister can be R.O.B.'s alt.
Louie can be Olimar's alt, but Louie will use Bulmin's instead of Pikmins.
Black Shadow can be a C.Falcon alt and Samurai Goroh can take the empty spot BS use to hold.
Shadow can be a Sonic alt, with a minor change.

Maybe this is why they don't have more, people would be suggesting everyone to get an alt and it would get out of hand...
Louie would basically be a costume with no differing abilities it seems like... except for his FS, but even then it's not worth the investment.

The only alt I can picture being included is Dr. Mario.
I would LIKE more, but Doc is the most likely choice. I mean, think about it; DMX is NAMED after him.
And he has his fans too, myself included.

I was working on Dr. Mario sprites a while back. I kinda stopped because he was never really confirmed to be in the game.

Problem is, Olimar and Louie are different people. So are Falcon and BS, and Sonic and Shadow. Ryu and Evil Ryu are the same person, just with different levels of that Satsui thing. Mario is the same person as Dr. Mario, but in a doctor outfit. I think if there are gonna be alts, they should be the same person, not two different people that can exist at the same time.
That makes it complicated about Pikachu, though. Pichu can turn into Pikachu, but Pikachu can't turn into Pichu. Wonder how that would work...
Also, you can start off as Zerio Suit Samus by just clicking her name in Crusade. So Ryu's technically not the only alt atm.

I dont mind Metal Mario and Dark Link as alts. Though I would prefer Dr Mario to be Mario's alt first.
