Ridley is too big, you saw how big he was compared to every other character in Brawl. Only other Metroid rep I could think of was Anthony.
The reason I have B/W trainer is because I didn't want to cut Lucario, Mewtwo, or Jiggs. Of course Pikachu can't be cut either, this left Pokémon Trainer to be cut. I do like the idea of a trainer, though, so I turned him into B/W Trainer.
I like Demille.
Isaac is there.
Also, could you edit your post so that it doesn't stretch the page?

Ridley over Anthony Higgs. For obvious reasons.
To be honestly, I'm starting to question Takamaru as of late. Maybe its biased or not, but here is something to think about for a minute.
Have you noticed that every Smash Bros game that featured retro characters were characters that have appeared in both NES & Famicon or in Mr. G&W's case their own handheld & Gameboy? Characters like Takamaru only had one game, and 1 appearance in the states. Also, some cameo appearances, but Japan only. Sakurai's favor in Takamaru is a fact. If Golden's statement of Sakurai willing to add Takamaru in Smash if he had a new game is true, then I think Takamaru's chances may have slightly dropped. I say this because even though he appeared as a playable character in Samurai Warriors 3, it still wasn't his game and just being playable for that small role. But here is another trick question, if Takamaru did come out with a sequel game to his series, would he still be considered retro?
Overall, if we were to get new retro characters, I think it will be a retro character that has appeared in both NES & Famicon. The only 3 high candidates of retro characters who have appeared on both versions of the first Nintendo console are Balloon Fighter, Duck Hunt Dog, & Mike Jones.

Toon Zelda wouldn't be a clone (thats what I'm assuming you mean as a "lighter version"), as she has different things available to her that the current Zelda in smash doesn't have. Only thing she'd copy would be transforming. Course I can't say that Sakurai wouldn't make her a clone...
Like I said before, Ridley is too big imo. I know he has more priority over Higgs and is more important to the series as a whole, but I think he is too big to be considered. I know characters have been resized before (Olimar is an example), but Ridley is different in that we know Ridley is huge compared to the rest of the smash roster (look at SSE), and shrinking him down to size would be really awkward...
DeMille I think has a chance, as Tomato Adventures is popular in Japan and I remember reading somewhere that he was requested for Brawl.

Only difference is he's popular in both America AND japan. By gamers and non-gamers due to brawl. |

You're talking the man that made Ganondorf a clone of Captain Falcon and made Toon Link a clone when he has more to offer. Ridley's size in SSE is actually exaggerated. He was (ironically) too small, so they beefed him up. Meta Ridley and Omega Ridley are that size, but not plain ol' Ridley. (Except Other M, where the clone was injected with some experimental drug.) Regular Ridley has been at most twice the size of Samus, which although is large, is not TOO large. Especially given the fact that Ridley tends to hunch, which brings him down lower. By all means, Ridley WOULD be the largest character of Smash, but who's to say that it won't work? I mean, plenty of fighting games have larger characters that fit in just fine. I have changed some things.
First, I added Bowser Jr. and Zoroark to give both Mario and Pokémon six characters, and to even the roster out at 50.
B/W Trainer was changed to the original Pokémon Trainer, as with the new character per series cap is at 6, allowing Zoroark to rep 5th gen.
DeMille was cut and replaced with Ridley, to give Metroid 3 reps.
Diddy Kong is now teamed up with Dixie Kong.

Decided to give Mario an alt costume of Dr. Mario, and Dr. Mario will have his own alt colors (kind of like WarioWare and Wario Land Warios in Brawl).
Also reorganized it so they are organized by series.

In the original Metroid, Ridley was barely Samus' height. Ridley's size is seriously inconsistent, so Ridley can easily fit in if one of his smaller sizes was chosen. The SSE Ridley was actually made larger, to make him seem more intimidating, especially as the other bosses were all huge as well. |
