I will post my latest Roster to be criticised. Just to show that I am not hypocritical about ME criticising other Rosters.

But before I do, let me explain why the characters are there.

1. All veterans from Brawl: I see no reason to take anyone out. Brawl having characters from Melee not in was a big mistake. (Unless fully replaced, like Pichu for Lucario and Young Link for Toon Link.)

2. Mewtwo and Roy: Both were planned for Brawl (and WERE NOT REPLACED like people think. Lucario did not replace Mewtwo, Ike did not replace Roy.), and were the two highest characters in development that were scrapped.

3. Dr. Mario: He's made into an alternate costume selection so that people won't complain about him being back, and because Dr. Mario was my main. He was also planned for Brawl as well.

4. Diddy/Dixie: Dixie was planned to be a tag-team partner with Diddy in Brawl that would switch like Zelda and Sheik. Sakurai had difficulties doing this, so Dixie was scrapped. However, he can always find a way to do it, like with Pit, who had trouble due to his wings, or Pokemon Trainer, who had trouble with the Pokemon feature.

5. Toad: The last of the Big 8 of Mario to be added.

6. Bowser Jr.: A recurring villain in the Mario series, and serves as Bowser's right-hand man.

7. Rosalina: A recent recurring character, and represents the two Galaxy games.

8. King K. Rool: Main villain of the Donkey Kong series.

9. Funky Kong: Has great popularity, as shown by him being added in Mario Kart Wii before any other Kong other than Donkey or Diddy, and because he was voted as the Kong that fans want to return after his absence in Donkey Kong Country Returns.

10. Ghirahim: The latest villain to not be associated with Ganon (previous one is Vaati), and was even designed to be an opposite of Ganon.

11. Ridley: Most recurring character after Samus herself. Is one of the most heavily requested characters.

12. Anthony Higgs: The only thing about Other M that people DIDN'T complain about. Was popular before his NAME was revealed, as he became a meme for his "Remember me?" line. Also serves as the perfect Newcomer as he is an ally and would be Sakurai's ideal choice if he decides to not do Ridley.

13. Waddle Dee (or Bandana Dee as you may know him): The 4th character in Kirby Returns to Dreamland (rumored title for Kirby Wii). That's pretty much it.

14. Heracross: Was the most requested Pokemon for Melee, and was long beleived to be the 2nd Gen. rep for Melee until Pichu was revealed. Given that HeartGold and SoulSilver were recently released, Sakurai may consider Heracross.

15. Zoroark: Added due to personal preference. It's either going to be Zoroark or Vicitni, but I would rather take Zoroark because Zoroark is a non-Legendary that had a starring movie role. And because Zoroark was the first revealed 5th Gen. Pokemon. Vicitni is more likely, though.

16. Black Shadow: He can counter Falcon's superhero-esque moves with supervillain-esque moves, especially if he uses his powers from the anime. But if anything else, Black Shadow can take Ganon's old moves while Ganon gets new ones.

17. Medusa: Main villain of Kid Icarus, which is likely to get a second character. Medusa is the best choice available.

18. Jimmy T.: Usually second after Wario in the WarioWare series. Actually has some relevance to Wario compared to a certain witch girl that everyone clamours for.

19. Little Mac: Is considered a "legend" by Sakurai, and is a major Nintendo icon that is not yet playable. With Punch-Out for the Wii, and Doc Louis' Punch-Out as a Club Nintendo exclusive game, he's far from forgoten.

20. Isa: The Mother complex. Saki is the main character of the first game, but Isa's in the game that more people are familiar with and is the latest hero. AND he has more to offer than Saki. This situation is similar to Ness and how he got in instead of Ninten.

21. Isaac: The Fire Emblem complex. Whereas Matthew is the latest hero, Isaac has been in more games (even Matthew's), and is considered the mascot for Golden Sun as Marth is to Fire Emblem.

22. Tingle: Has his own series seperated from the Zelda series, which no other Zelda character has.

23. Chibi-Robo: A popular character choice for the new Smash.

24. Takamaru: Would serve as the retro representation, and he has Sakurai's blessing. Aside from this he had a guest in Samurai Warriors 3 for the Wii, which could've not have a guest or given someone else.

25. Mach Rider: His redesign in Melee's trophy and remixed music track in Melee leaves some questions. Possibly he was going to be added. In either case, with his heavy redesign, I can see him joining Smash.

26. Ryu: Sakurai has mentioned about a Capcom character not being out of the realm of possibility, but Mega Man is dead, so Ryu is the next choice that Capcom would make.

Well since you were doing all veterans on a reason, I might as well not bother with that...
1. Rosalina seems too out-of-the-ordinary for a mainstream smash game.
2. I love ZSS's image. Lawl
3. I predict that they'll make an R/S/E remake before SSB4, but I have nothing to support this, but it's just that Heracross shouldn't be in IMO for being like Rosalina: Too out-of-the-ordinary for a mainstream smash game. Pichu seems better. Especially to rep a joke char.
4. Wait, didn't you say that Sakurai said that Mac was limited in moveset?
5. Ryu may be likely, but Megaman has extremely high fan demand. Had the fan demand not been existant, he would be most likely.

You, sir, have convinced me to change Matthew to Isaac and possibly Little Mac to Waluigi in my roster. Congratulations.

DGN's 5th point: Keep in mind that Capcom blamed the FANS for the cancellation of the most recent Megaman games, as well as Megaman's creator leaving the company recently.

Updated with a few replacements and overall cuts. Shortening my Roster to 53 selectable characters. (Not counting teams or transformations or Dr. Mario).

I have had a change of heart for a few things.

1. Toon Zelda: As one of you said (don't remember who, sorry), Din's Fire, Nayru's Love, and Faeroes' Wind don't exist in the "Toon" Zelda games, so she would HAVE to be given a new moveset. I didn't include Tetra, as I don't want to take regular Zelda's gimmick.

2. A 3rd Mother character: Yeah, I realized something. Mother isn't a DEAD series, it's a complete series. (Mother 3 is the last in the series) Not only that, but Japanese fans and American fans alike all want Masked Man. As strange as it may seem, I think he has a pretty big shot.

3. No 2nd Pokemon Newcomer: I know, I know, I made a big deal about this. HOWEVER, I figured, I'm not following the "1 new StarFox character per game" pattern, why should I worry about Pokemon getting two new characters? And at the same time, bringing Mewtwo back is kind of adding a new rep anyway, as he wasn't in Brawl. Just as long as there's a 5th Gen, and I do have one; Zoroark.

4. A 2nd 3rd Party from the same game/company: And I know I made a big deal about this as well, but the only new 3rd Party character I have is Tails. (I know, "but you said Shadow over Tails!") The reason being that Sonic is a large series, and has his own SERIES of games that crossover with Mario. With a 3rd one coming up, a second Sonic character seems very likely. But why Tails? Because he has more prominise at the moment. Tails has been in (and WILL be in) newer titles with a larger role than Shadow if Shadow had ANY.

Characters on chopping block: Jimmy T. (WarioWare doesn't really have a definining 2nd rep.), Tingle (Japan actually pays attention to the hate he brings in other countries), Tails (Back to my "no 2nd 3rd Party per company/game rule"), Claus (Claus may be wanted, but Sakurai may view him as a big spoiler to those who haven't played Mother 3.).

New character: Mii.

Well despite the fact that I'm glad at you having a reasonable number, I'm just gonna say that people LIKE beating up characters they hate. People hate Sonic because YOAR TOO SLAO. They hate meta knight for being broken. Etc. So yeah.
And secondly, Claus can be covered by calling him Masked Man. So yeah, no spoilers there.

Don't get me wrong I'd LOVE to have Tingle playable, however, I think where he is now is best. As an Assist that can either help you, screw things up, or just nothing.
Meta-Hate and Sonic Hate is a lot different from Tingle Hate. Tingle Hate is actual hate of the character. Meta-Hate is because he's broken. Sonic Hate is out of taunt spam.

There would also be the problem of Trophy description and Snake's Codec, so that still causes problems for Claus...and I'm back to my belief that Mother is fine with two characters.
