We already have a capcom fighter. Why do we need two? Because Capcom is almost as huge a Sega or Nintendo...? |

We already have a capcom fighter. Why do we need two? We already have two, and a third one coming soon. And Capcom is a big name, even bigger than Sega, which currently has 4 characters and 1 on the way. |

By "Fighter" I mean from a figthing game, like Soul Calibur.
And also, Capcom is bigger than Sega?
Barely anyone I know knows Ryu, yet they do know Sonic.
Prob' because of the Nintendo vs Sega fan-war.

We got Capcom's big fighting series down, we don't need another (Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, Red Earth, etc.) Ryu is an icon to Fighting Games, so while he isn't as big an icon as Megaman (who is Mario and Sonic status), he is still a big gaming icon. |

If I had to pick 2 more Capcom characters, I would probably pick Arthur and Viewtiful Joe. Or replace one of them 2 with Chun-Li.
I still think Frank West is a terrible choice for the next Capcom rep.

I agree that it should be Hagger over West. But I think Arthur tops the both of them. That is just me though.
But Viewtiful Joe & Chun-Li have more fame than the 3 mentioned above. Who would you suggest as the best choice of the 2?

Phantom7 said the roster will most likely have no further changes to it. We worked on it a little yesterday and he said it's done.

He represents a series not represented yet and would fit right in to Smash's style. @doc: That's what was said about the PREVIOUS roster as well. I will not take this as absolute truth. ICs? We haven't made a list for DLCs yet, but we have a good idea of who we'll have. The roster will remain a secret until the final game. The plan is to not reveal any unlockables until all have been fully programmed into the game. The only way anyone can know this roster is if they are helping with sprites, but they may only get to know a few characters.
@golden: I believe this time is it. We've come up with so many possible (and graded almost 100) newcomers and carefully chose the best ones. And I think character requests are almost no good, unless you think they are truly a canidate for a DLC.

After 3 installments in the smash series, it makes no sense to not include the ice climbers, especially since they introduced the double duo fighting style in smash and were the first retro characters to be announced playable in smash bros.

We're looking at how we will be programming them. If we can, Ice Climbers will be DLC.
And to be honest, Phantom and I did not consider what forum members think when we selected the roster. Why? Because the audience we're looking for are gamers in general, not just the people on these forums. When we examine popularity, the first thing we do is normally go to Google and see how many pictures of that character come up just by typing in their name. The more fan art, the better.
