wow, well this is a surprise. anyways, let me shed some light on the issues with some of these choices.
Petey Piranha
A lot of problems with this character. One of the most important issues is that we have way too many Mario series reps as it is. We can't continue to stretch the representation, especially for someone like Petey.
The thing with Petey is that he is not an important character in the series. All he had was a mini-boss role. Not to mention that him being playable in the spin-offs is not really something special when you look at the Mario series. Why? Because as we can see, the spin-off series throw almost any character in the series playable just to expand the character select screen. Hell, the babies, boo, koopa, shy guy, and even the lesser known generic enemies got a playable spot. So being playable in the Mario spin-offs is not as significant as it use to be.
Now, also IIRC didnt Petey mostly get negative votes on a thread. Mind you it was only a suggestion poll. He is obviously not a popular choice. The only fans that would be pleased to see him playable are the biased Mario fanboys that know nothing of smash bros representation.
In conclusion of this choice, my suggestion is that Petey should be taken out of the roster. The Mario series in this game got a very extra special treatment when Rosalina & Geno got in knowing we have Toad, Bowser Jr, & Waluigi already playable. We are spoiling this series too much. Give this spot to a misc or retro character that deserves it.
Kamek
Now personally, I dont mind Kamek at all, especially since he is most-likely going to rep the Yoshi series. But here is the problem. Though Kamek originated in a Yoshi game, he made more appearances in the Mario games than he did in the Yoshi series. Hell, most of his major roles were in the Mario series games. So how would he be a good Yoshi rep? I like Kamek and like to see him playable, but with the numbers of Mario series reps, he is a unnecessary choice. I would give his spot to a retro or misc rep. Give it to a non-Mario series rep instead.
DK Crew
I would like to know why this trio got in the roster before King K Rool & Dixie Kong. Putting this trio in before K Rool & Dixie will lead to a lot of complaints from the fans. Only people who dont understand representations in a Smash game would pick any of those 3 over Dixie & K Rool.
Plus, programming a trio will be a pain to developers. Playing a Pokemon Trainer VS DK Crew will be a torturous match to play for any player. The match freezes everytime a switch is done. On top of that, this choices doesnt please a true DK and Smash Bros fan since K Rool and Dixie are out. This choice doesn't benefit neither fans or developers at all. Benefits Nobody!
Plus we need more villains
Besides, those 3 were only in one game IIRC. K Rool & Dixie have made more appearances and are far more popular choices.
In my opinion, Dixie should work as a switching character with Diddy and K Rool should take that trio's spot.
Ghirahim
I dont have a big problem with this choice really, but I do have one big problem here. Why him? We are yet to know anything specific about this character. He hasn't established nothing to the series as of yet and this is his first game. We dont know if he will be a relevant character in the long run. This is pretty much adding a character nobody knows nothing about. And the fact that he got in this roster before he even had his game released shows favortism in my view. No offense, just saying.
And what happened to Vaati? I thought he was going to be in Crusade. On a personal note, I would put in Midna, but with Vaati being the 2nd most popular villain to the series, he would make more sense. Bring back Vaati.
Raichu
Wait a minute, seriously??? He got in before Meowth!!!! I thought the reason Meowth was taken out is because he repped the 1st gen (which in your opinion is over-repped), for not being unique, and not having a major role in the Pokemon games.
This is completely opposite to the direction that was planned for this representation. First off, Raichu is 1st gen. Second, it has been said that Meowth is not unique (which I disagree since he is a scratch cat Pokemon) yet Raichu is literally the evolve form of Pikachu who shares all the same attacks as him. And Third, At least Meowth was important to Pokemon as a whole by being the 2nd most recurring character in the anime series, yet Raichu is not important in neither game or anime.
In my opinion, bring back Meowth to take this character's place.
Dark Samus
Personally, I would make Dark Samus a alt for Samus. But I cant argue much about this series since it lacks characters anyways. Personally, I would bring in Anthony Higgs. He is a popular character. All that needs to be done is to come up with a full move set.
Slippy Toad
I have no problem playing as Slippy, but the problem here is that I dont see Wolf. Why take him out? He is a Smash vet (as of now) and he is a villain. Star Fox needs his villain.
Black Shadow
I still think Goroh should be in before him, he is a more popular choice in this forum (he has more votes than BS in most of all the polls he & BS have been) and everywhere else. If it were up to me, I would put them both in.
Im surprised with a roster of 80 that we dont have a 3rd Mother rep, who should be Porky.
Tamagon
This guy?? I dont hate this character as whole,
but the fact that he got in before more popular characters like Balloon Fighter, Duck Hunt Dog, & Lip is very sad. His game has been criticized for having a gameplay style similar to Pac Man. Only the nature and concept of the game got positive reviews. Well, this is just according to IGN really.
On top of that, the fact that Devil got the assist trophy role over him pretty much shows how unimportant he is.
Hell, half the Smash Bros fans are STILL not sure who he is. Out of the thousands of fan made rosters I have seen, I'm yet to see him in one.
He is not popular, not a good retro rep, he has nothing to offer.
Balloon Fighter or Duck Hunt Dog should take his spot in my opinion.
Amy Rose & Metal Sonic
How did Dr Eggman & Shadow lose their spots over these 2 choices? I can understand Amy taking one of their spots, yet its still not a good idea, but the fact that Metal Sonic is here is just wrong. If Shadow was replaced cause of him being a potential clone, then Metal Sonic as the choice to go with is going 10 steps backwards. Metal Sonic is more of a Sonic clone than Shadow ever was.
I would take out Metal Sonic for Shadow and either bring back Dr Eggman or replace him with another Nintendo character that deserves a spot like Ray MK or Chibi Robo.
Roll Caskett
Ok I understand taking out Zero, but to throw in a less important character like Roll. What is going on here?
Saget, Morrigan, & Frank West
To me this is an overboard of Capcom reps, none the less unimportant characters. At this point, Capcom has more reps than all the Nintendo series (minus Mario series) In A Smash Game?!?!?!
I see a lot of problems here. I dont mean to disrespect anyone and to call them bias, but just one look at this roster and that is what fans will think.
Saget, Morrigan, Frank West, & Roll gotta go. Capcom should not be getting this many reps and it is leaving out good Nintendo characters.
Metal Mario & Dark Link
Honestly, these 2 should be alt characters, not take up a spot on the roster. They are not worthy or important to have that priviledge. And they are more of a clone than anything else, yet Wolf is off the roster?

Moogle
This is a first that I ever seen this name on a Smash roster, EVER. And this thing gets the spot over more familiar FF reps?
Either a new FF rep or Nintendo character.
Bad Mr. Frost
Bad Bad choice if you ask me. A character most gaming fans are not familiar with. None the less it was criticized for being a Street Fighter rip off.
This game represents nothing important, barely has a supporting fanbase, or even barely remembered or mentioned. No benefit for this choice at all.
And Crono replaces Isaac, who is perhaps the most wanted misc rep for SSB4
OVERALL:
Honestly, I feel that good, important, and popular characters have been replaced for lesser known, unecessary, unimportant, and bad choices.
A lot of choices here will disappoint fans. So many unwanted characters. I suggest that this roster needs to be re-done.
