General discussion for Krystal, the hottest anthropomorphic fox in the galaxy. I'm surprised that this was pretty much the only character discussion thread that hasn't been made yet. EDIT: Hey, Samus's hasn't been made yet either. Ironic, huh?

Not irony at all. Just a coincidence.
I like playing as Krystal occasionally. I think that her FS is a bit overpowered.

It USED to be overpowered. If you haven't heard my ranting on her FS getting nerfed, you're about to hear a brief summary. If you have, too bad. Krystal time.
in v0.5, it did 120% damage if all four blades hit correctly. Now it does either 53 or 56, can't remember which. The trapping effect is almost an equal trade off, though, since it's easier to kill with accuracy-wise. I used to get an average of 84 damage with it.
But yeah, enough with my bickering... Her b-air is a force to be reckoned with too.

Her Bair has very little range, and is pretty slow.

But it's wickedly powerful and has little landing lag. I'll try to get a video of me using a SHBAFF (Short-hopped back-air fast fall) (lol, I came up with that acronym myself).

Krystal's beast (literally!). I feel like no one uses her.

She used to be one of my mains. Then Saki and Lucario came, making her a secondary. She's fun to play as, especially TEH EPIC STUN-AND-SMASH ATTACK. (Sasa. Reminds me of Sassy.)

I love using Krystal but am not that great with her yet (I guess, seeing as I developed her, I'm okay with her). Stun gun (Demon Sniper) is still awesome in 0.6 although the stun doesn't stack anymore (thankfully). I use it to set up Side Smash at high percent or Down Smash at lower percents.

^ The best strategy, btw. Demon Sniper is also a great way to get an easy FS in. Especially since they'd be stunned for a pretty good amount of time if their damage is high enough to die from her FS. I'm pretty sure she can kill reliably around 56% on the medium weight characters. Wario seems to be the most resistant. And extremely annoying.

lol Wario does take a lot of damage to KO. I think it's an interesting match up for Krystal. He can Bike right through Side B and B, which means Demon Sniper is the only reliable way to stop the Bike. It's pretty even overall though.

I've actually taken out his bike with a d-air, except it hit like 7 times after sweetspotting, so it might've been a glitch. A couple of b-airs will do the trick too.

I'm really dissapointed in Krystal. For one of the only Star Fox characters to actually have been on land during a game, and have a weapon with some magical abilities, you guys made up a moveset for her with a bunch of random things like a boomerang. Really?
You should have used the moves from Star Fox Adventures. The staff can act as a rocket, which would make a great up special. Slamming it on the ground causes an earthquake, a fantastic down special. Plus, it can shoot ice similar to Bowser's flame breath, which is a good neutral special. Throw in fireballs for a side special, and you got something a lot more unique than you have now. The FS... why can't she get some help from the denizens of Sauria? The current one is just a random blast of energy.

I like Roymaster's ideas.
When there's no need to change someone's abilities, don't.

She's the weapons specialist in Assault, which explains her down-smash, down-special, neutral-special and forward-smash, along with the various ways she uses the staff as a melee weapon. 4. A bunch of swords are easier to sprite than a bunch of dinosaurs. */Fact mixed with some opinion*

I did say one of... the multiplayer in Assault doesn't count, and single player only has Fox on land iirc. I understand that some moves use assault weaponry, but wouldn't it make more sense to use her actual staff powers instead?
Besides, if you want assault weapons so much, give them to Falco to declone him. At least Krystal has moves of her own she can use.

I've always kind of thought Down Special to be a little out of place, honestly, even if it is a good move. Maybe the ice or earthquake attack would be better, and having something other than a Boomerang would be more unique.
Roy, would you mind helping with those couple of sprites? I think it'd be no problem to put those moves in the game given the sprites. I really like the ideas anyway.

Up Special: I think maybe a staff could be added to that to look like a jet? Normal Special: Go ahead and change that. Side Special: Go ahead and change that. Down Special: I'd like to keep this one, to be honest. 'Tis Fun.
