You should all know him. He's close to being the fifth most important member of the series(first is sonic, second is Eggman, third is tails, fourth is knuckles) and I really only made this thread to get the forum active.
I had a discussion about him vs Metal Sonic a bit ago with Golden. I actually thought that Metal Sonic was better. But Golden convinced me that Shadow was better. And I'm willing to show you how he is.
Gradingoh god i haven't done this in a while:
Popularity: 5. Shadow has become known as SEGA's second most liked character, first being Sonic. It's hard to surpass that. He's also been in 23 of Sonic's games. His face has become known as Sonic's twin, and he's been in GameDaily's top 25 video game anti-heroes, and is ranked 25th out of 50 video game characters in the Guinness World Records 2011 Gamers' Edition book.
Viability: 5. Has been in so many games, a full moveset wouldn't be hard to make. He also has a full sheet, save for Final Smash. To wrap it up, playability would not be bad at all.
Uniqueness: 4.5. He may just look like and be able to do everything Sonic can, but his moves focus more on martial arts and karate chops and the like. His chaos powers may seem just Psychokinesis, but they're not. It's hard to really explain what they are, but with Sonic Battle's moves he is "completely unique". -Golden
Representation: 4: Although Shadow the Hedgehog was horrible, Sonic Adventure 2 and it's remake, Shadow's debuting games, were fantastic. On the dreamcast, the average was an 89%, mainlly praised for the fast-paced levels, the great graphics, the chao garden, and the improved gameplay graphics from SA1. The only real problem was the camera and Knuckles/Rouge's levels, but that has no part to do with Shadow. It was also "criticized for having a lack of challenging boss fights". HOWEVER. "Despite these issues, the game was still a critical and commercial success with many reviewers agreeing thta the game was one of the last great Dreamcast releases. IGN included that 'If this is the last Sonic game in these declining Dreamcast years, it's satisfying to know that the DC didn't go out with a bang, but a sonic boom." Although Sa2B was received worse, it sold 1.44 million games in the USA as of December 2007, "making it one of the GameCube's highest selling games." It was also re-realeased as a Player's Choice title. It has also won IGN and GamePro's Editors' Choice Awards, Gamespy's best of 2001: Best Dreamcast action/adventure game, and ScrewAttack rated it as the fifth best Dreamcast game.
Overall: 18.5.
WELL, WHADDYA SAY NOW.
