Thanks man, falcon8r, when is the new Evil Ryu going to come out? Next update? He'll be in the next update. He's finished. I've been tweaking his new Final Smash lately, but otherwise, he's done.

Sweet, His new Final Smash is so awesome, But is it going to replace any final smash or are you just adding it?

I think that it replaces his totally useless second one. The Tatsumaki.

Ryu needs some buffing imo. Mainly in priority, his flaws shine. His hadoken has extremely low priority (canceled by a Mario fireball??), along with the Tatsumaki and the Shoryouken. Quite often I will be hit by a Dsmash mid-Tatsumaki. Quite a few smash attacks I have come across severely out prioritize all of Ryu's specials (except the Hadoken, in which case a projectile usually does).

EX Hadoken.
Easy solution.

Unless you're playing Evil Ryu. And even so, why should a Mario fireball have the same priority as the normal Hadoken?

Unless you're playing Evil Ryu. And even so, why should a Mario fireball have the same priority as the normal Hadoken? I guess that's a fair buff. Most people in the forums seem to think Ryu is one of the best characters, and I actually have to agree. Maybe Hadoken should be buffed a little? But not too much...

Evil Hadoken. Regular hadouken is almost OP.
I love how I spelled it differently both times.

One of the reasons I think Ryu is a bit hard, I think is because he doesn't have enough lag on the EX Hadouken, and there's really no drawback to the spin kick EX.

Less range, I guess.

Yes, but if you stay up close to the enemy, (like you have to do with ristar kinda) it is VERY easy for him, to hit like that. And hadouken seems a bit large, but its pretty much the size it should be compared to the game.

No one agrees that the EX moves should take some FS bar.
Maybe also get buffed.

Most people in the forums seem to think Ryu is one of the best characters, and I actually have to agree. I've noticed that. In all honesty, I think he would end up mid-tier (I play Evil Ryu, haven't messed around much with Normal). His specials are easily out-prioritized (all of them), and are very predictable. He has very few approach options (although with a character like him, not much can be done about that). Projectile has pro's and cons: Good hitstun, good range/ size, low priority, damage is about what I would expect. He has decent horizontal recovery, not that great vertical recovery. Both forms are predictable and very punishable. He's too easy to edgeguard (nature of the character again, not much can be done here). Nair and Fair are pretty good, with Fair acting as somewhat a WOP, Nair similarly as well. Bair however is not impressive. Small range/ hitbox. Uair, same deal. Dair is a stall-then-fall, which are good for getting to the stage quickly, but as an offensive maneuver, too predictable and punishable (goes for all attacks like this, not just his). He does have good damage output, and some good kill moves, which bring him up as a character, but his specials, some of his aerials, and his recovery aren't too great. He has few spacing and approach options, which can hurt him in certain matchups, and is easy to edgeguard, another point bringing him down. Basically, if Ryu can get in your face with a lot of the standard attack button, he'll do some damage, however it's getting there in the first place, and his special move priority levels that really hinder him, combined with few non punishable recovery options and no real mindgames, thus he is mid-tier worthy, not high tier imo. Problem is, most of his flaws are just because of him as a character in this games setting, and not much can be done about it. My only suggestions are priority boosts on his special attacks. And there's my input on Ryu =)

Evil Ryu has a counter....

I did forget to mention that....
Counter's can go either way, really. The problem with counters, is that characters who have them become predictable. It's high risk, high reward. Great when landed, but it also gives the opponent a new option against you - bait a counter then punish. Doesn't boost a character or bring them down.

If you use it right it is good.
Like saying that projectiles can be shielded, so they aren't good.

No one agrees that the EX moves should take some FS bar. Cept for me The counter seems kind of difficult to activate for me, but that could just be that I barely use him at all. XD
