Popularity: 5(I'd say 7, but 5's max): Star Wars is one of, if not the most popular movies of all time! Kids, adults, and old-timers alike know him. Whether it be from the movies, the video games, the TV shows, the toys, the action figures, the books, and everything ranging from everyone, this would be an obvious 5.
Moveset Potential: He wields a red lightsaber that can cut through objects, posseses the force, which could push an opponent, pull an opponent, shock an opponent, jump much higher, Shoot it from all directions, and many other things. Plus, being the leader of the Galactic Federation, he could send Stormtroopers and spaceships to attack. 4.5
Uniqueness: Fully cloaked in black, a mask of epic proportions, appears to be half-cyborg, actually old to a persons surprise, originally was a nice, curious boy, but being treated horribly lead to being burned, wielding a sword that can cut anything but itself, and the force. 5
Representation: Many people are against another 4th party, which in the first place we don't really need, yet represents a movie, not a TV Show, and as mentioned above is one of the most popular movies in existence. 3.5

Duck Hunt Dog
Representation
Though there are already some classic original NES character already on the roster, which hurts his chances just a slit bit, the advantage he has over the rest of the classic characters is that he was one of the top franchise characters along with Mario & Link (before there was Pokemon, Metroid, & Star Fox). And he is the most famous & iconic out of all the other classic characters. He also helped launched the NES, being the game that came with the system's purchase, as well as sharing a cartridge with Super Mario Bros. and is still a classic game being played today.

Popularity
Now I think this is where his chances hurt him the most. He is the most hated video game character of all time. But this title is actually a good thing. While numbers of characters cant even gain attention, Duck Hunt Dog made the Duck Hunt series memorable and no other character has gotten under the player's skin personally than he did with his laughter. This caused many fans for years to want a game where he can get shot (VS Duck Hunt). Since I started my suggestion for Duck Hunt Dog, I have actually found a high number of fans wanting to have him playable. I dont think its always popularity that's important, but notoriety is important as well, which he has alot of.

Moveset Potentials
He has plenty to work with for a character that stood there and laugh at the player. He can use Ducks to recover back to the stage when in danger of being KO'd, or he can use them as a battering ram. He can use the NES Zapper as well, the NES gadget Duck Hunt made popular, he can also use the Clay Disk from the game as well as a projectile. Also, being the species of a dog, he can use dog-based attacks like bite, pounce, growl, and even chase his tail to perform a spinning attack.

Other than Wario, we really dont have much characters that can use cartoonish antics as a fighting style.

I've been playing Aero the Acrobat lately, and its kind of fun.
I'll grade him
Representation: 3: Aero the Acrobat wasn't too popular of a game, I don't believe, and aside from blaster master, I don't believe sunsoft became too popular of a company. However, sunsoft doesn't have any reps yet.
Popularity: 1: Nobody here knows who he is.
Moveset Potential: 4.5: Aero can spin, causing for several attacks, shoot stars for a projectile, and being acrobatic he could bring a lot of new things to the gamethat could easily be shown by NiGHTS, and being a bat, he could do everything a bat can do, such as bite, fly, and give poison and stuff. Plus, being in a circus he could attack with circus stuff.
Uniqueness: 3: He's a bat that can fly around, of course, but being able to do a ton of amazing acrobatic stuff is kewl.
Overall: 11.5

I thought this quote seemed relevant to Aero. I watched a gameplay vid and it really did look like a solid 2D platformer. Too bad I never heard about it.

Aero's deserving. And that's why Representation should be a 5. It's one of the best platformers on the SNES and Genesis. Moveset Potential is an easy 5 (he can do many things in gameplay) as well as uniqueness (just look at him). Phantom and I have him a grade of 90. I think that fits well.

Moveset Potential: 5: Acrobatics, the star loops, being celestial, being able to combine with a body, flying around all the time, grabbing an enemy mid-air for a mid-air throw, plus its air moves are already done, from the game. Uniqueness: 5: Nights, like mentioned above, is acrobatic, and at that more acrobatic than Aero, a nightmaren of unkown gender that can play a flute without a flute at that, can join with another person to help the world, and at that the world in their dreams, preventing nightmares from the people of the world and stopping villains from making people forever in a nightmare. Popularity: 5: NiGHTS had a game for the Wii, boosting its popularity greatly, a cameo appearance in Sonic DX, was a playable character in Sonic Riders and its sequal, there was a chao baby based on NiGHTS appearance, was playable in Sonic Superstars Tennis, a cameo appearance in Sonic Adventure 2 in the first stage in a billboard, Shadow the Hedgehog as a billboard, she's also in Sonic pinball party, sonic shuffle, billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg as an egg creature, Sega Superstars with the eyetoy, was the flagman in Sonic and Sega Super stars racing, and also made a guest appearance in fantasy star online. Basically, if you know Sega, you HAVE to know NiGHTS. |
