You know what, Felipe? If I were a mod you'd be SERIOUSLY infracted now. To clarify so we can end this: The physics of a Wavedash were intended; it was intended that you would slide along the ground if you airdodge into the ground from a low height. Otherwise you would just hit the ground and stop, and this would become a nuisance. They did not realize that if you slid into the ground while barely above it, you would perform what is called a "Wavedash". The uses people found for it were not intended by Sakurai and the rest of the devs. It was originally discovered when an unknown Smasher attempted to catch an item mid-air (because aerial catching is safer than picking the item up), and he discovered that when you air-dodge into the stage at an angle, you slide along longer than you should. People quickly figured out that this method of movement had many uses, such as moving backwards while facing forwards, and characters like Mewtwo being able to travel faster by Wavedashing than by running. End of discussion. I suggest anyone continuing this be infracted as it has clearly turned into a flame war.
EDIT @felipe below me: You're not wavedashing. You're wavesmashing. There's an entirely different term for it ;D

As Felipe said, sliding across the floor is wavedashing. Whatever you do out of it is a different thing. Point in case, end discussion. So you are saying if i do a wavedash with an smash attack, i am not wavedashing? ? I think thats is clearly a contradiction

Guys. Stop bringing up wavedashing/AT's It would make my job so much easier and save everyone a lot of stress. There's some people that just wont come to agreement on things. Just let sleeping dogs lie.
You dont have to fight for 2 pages to agree on who's right either.

You even went to the wavedashing page and didn't see this? "Wavesmashing is the act of smashing while wavedashing, and is an example of the offensive advantages of wavedashing. Since characters can attack during the slide, a typical offensive movement would be to wavedash forward while smashing, minimizing the startup time of the smash (which would be considerable if a character tried to smash after dashing) and potentially finishing the opponent. Wavesmashing is particularly useful for a character like Luigi whose dash attack is very poor but whose smashes (in Luigi's case, down smash, a vertical launcher) are effective." super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Wavedashing#WavesmashingThis was an entire SECTION on the wiki. I didn't make the word up, I actually know what I'm talking about. Anyways, I found some cool Pichu vids: EDIT @nights: Yeah, I'm trying to stop the discussion... People aren't listening to reason and blatantly clear research that should've ended the discussion.

Yeah, it can become a nuisance at times, but I almost never use the attacks that do that. The ones I do use are D-Air, U-Special, S-special, and D-Special (although I make sure I'm out of the way of the Thunder). I very seldom use F-Smash unless presented with the opportunity, and never use F-Throw or pummel. F-Air is kind of useless in my opinion. I was playing a match against Samus, and I got to 200% at one point. I said to myself, "Screw it", and used all Pichu's attacks to their fullest extent. You know how the match ended? Pichu, 3 Stock, 255% damage (Five stock match). All that damage was done by my electric attacks ;D
Also, @falcon: Are you sure you don't want to take on my... MARTH?! Yup, I just spent a few hours getting used to him again after reading a guide. I managed to beat a level 9 Fox while only losing a single stock ;D

Dang man... I don't think you wanna see my Samus though. I three-stock level 9 CPUs with her pretty often.
