Golden, I like MGS a lot. Even though I can lean toward Castlevania a little more, I don't think another Konami rep. is entirely necessary. You have to realize there are other reps. outside of Sega, Capcom, and Konami. SUCH AS: Rare (Big Impact on the N64) Only one rep so far.Namco Only one rep so far.Square (Uh, Final Fantasy?) Only one rep so far.Midway Only one rep so far.Interplay Shiny Entertainment IIRC, the only reps for this and Interplay is the same char.Traveler's Tales All they really did was help with other franchises' games...And many others. WOAH, WAIT You were 4 years old when Ruby and Sapphire came out? That was 2003... So much explained... XD Yeah, it probably wasn't around there then; all I know is that I've had it as far back as I can remember, and I got it from my cousins, so yeah. XD

Can someone tell me where the roster is? I've searched and can't find it. Honestly I just assumed Simon wasn't in. What all can you do with a whip?

Reasons to Add Rival Trainer - Represent generations not currently represented in the roster - The Pokémon he would have are decent - The Pokémon would represent "competitive play"... (according to DMX, anyway...) - Gary Oak is kewl.
Reasons to NOT add Rival Trainer - Gary/Blue has NEVER used any of those Pokémon. Actually, Gary used a Scizor in ONE episode of the anime. But that's about it, Gary has never used a Gengar or Aggron, and Scizor has had too small of a role to even be considered. Pidgeot would have a better shot IMO. - The three Pokémon have NOTHING in common, besides that they're all fully evolved. They have no relation with each other in the manga, anime, or games. Nadda, zilch. Please inform me if they have anything in common. Team Meanies (Gengar, Medicham, Ekans) from Pokémon Mystery dungeon would make more sense IMO. - Quite a few people here (including falcon) don't like the idea at all. People asked outside the forums have said that while the Rival Trainer is/seems cool, it doesn't make the least bit of sense, and they'd rather have a character more canon to the franchise. If you actually cared about Pokémon, you'd realize that you are wrongly representing Blue/Gary Oak, and the Pokémon you're giving him as well. Face it; you're fitting yourself into the game while technically "not" fitting yourself into the game, and following the standard of video game characters only (exception Goku).
On another note, We already have Simon Belmont for Castlevania and Konami; MGS is much more popular than Castlevania and has already had a rep in Brawl... if Konami is getting another rep, let it be Raiden or Gray Fox, not Alucard.
And Deadpool is the best anti-hero ever, not Alucard. kthnx.

DMX, I didn't see him say that. Besides, he's four years older than you.
And Staypuft; Deadpool, yes.

I owned an Aggron once, but that was with my old sapphire game I played when I was, what, four? I don't like him at all anymore. Rawr. Also, to support May havng a Mudkip, in the very beginning May had used a Mudkip in the very beginning of the anime, and IIRC, she's the daughter of the professor with the Hoenn starters, so she could easily borrow a Grovyle. EDIT: Also, if DMX wants some characters from Rival so badly, they could just use the Iron-Masked Marauder(who's a bad choice as a character, but what the heck) from the Celebi movie, who used a Scizor, a Tyranitar(which is more liked than Aggron and is still similar), and Sneasel(another fan favorite, but the only problem with this is two dark types). Now, I'm not saying that he SHOULD be in, but considering the pokemon being used, he'd be better for owning them.

May technically has used all the starters, somewhat...
Mudkip: May used one very beginning of the Hoenn anime; could be used by her in the games.
Grovyle: Could be used by her in the games. If she had one and she was your rival it never evolved into a Sceptile by the last battle with her.
Blaziken: Could have been used by her in the games. She had one in the anime. Her manga counterpart, Sapphire, has a Blaziken as well.

Horrible idea. He was anime only, just to start, and then we'd have 3 Dark types (since Zoroark is in, and both Sneasle and Tyranitar are Dark). You're just going to have to face the facts, DMX. Nobody likes Rival Trainer in the least. We were less opposed to Aero and he was quickly taken off the roster after a discussion much shorter than this one. It's obvious we'd all prefer Meowth or Deoxys over him, even May if you're so set on having another trainer.

I'd like to make a moveset for May:
Mudkip Normal Special: Mud-Slap: Mudkip pushes mud from the ground, going a small distance, and does a small amount of damage, but makes mud stay on the ground for a bit, making people slidy. If possible, change the controls of the character with mud on them to be inversed(Left goes right, down goes up, etc) Side Special: Mud Bomb: Kip shoots out a ball of mud in an angle, doing pretty good damage, but breaks with contact on the ground. makes mud go on the ground for a bit, but less time than Mud-Slap. Up Special: Water Pledge: Mudkip sprays a tower of water downwards, propelling him up.
Grovyle Normal Special: Bullet Seed: Grovyle spits out either 2, 3, 4, or 5 seeds in a row, and if an enemy is hit, they have a small flinch. Does 1-2% damage for each. Side Special: Quick Attack-Leaf Blade: Grovyle immediately dashes forward a bit of a distance, which is helpful for recovery, and the wind passing by looks a bit green, and if he touches an enemy, he slashes them with Leaf Blade for knockback and good damage. Up Special: I have three ideas for this. First is Fury Cutter, you do little damage the first time, but more the more you use it, or False Swipe, which does no damage after 50%, but has pretty good knockback. Third is Aerial Ace, which is a mere sky slash.
Blaziken Normal Special: Flamethrower: Blaziken uses flamethrower, which is similar to Charizard and Bowser, but his is straight diagonal, with no curve. Side Special: Blaze Kick: Blaziken charges a bit, then attacks with his foot on fire. This does more damage than knockback, and charges a little less than the Falcon Punch. Up Special: I have 3 ideas for this one. First is Sky Uppercut, which is your basic uppercut, but only one hit and is pretty fast. Other is Brave Bird, where he jumps diagonally, a few feathers fall, and does pretty good damage. He also descends a bit slower than before. Third is High Jump Kick, where he jumps up high and kicks, and then falls diagonally and the next time he hits something he takes a bit of damage.
Final Smash: Grovyle uses Leaf Storm to the left, Mudkip uses Hydro Pump to the right, and Blaziken uses Overheat upwards.

Golden, I like MGS a lot. Even though I can lean toward Castlevania a little more, I don't think another Konami rep. is entirely necessary. You have to realize there are other reps. outside of Sega, Capcom, and Konami. SUCH AS: Rare (Big Impact on the N64) Namco Square (Uh, Final Fantasy?) Midway Interplay Shiny Entertainment Traveler's Tales The only ones that are actually important to me in that list is Rare (although is owned by the ENEMY now), Namco, Square (Yes, I know what the Hell Final Fantasy is), and Midway. The others are too minor. Interplay/Shiny is fine for EW Jim, but no one else needs to be added other than him. As for Traveler's Tales, who would you POSSIBLY add? It's mostly LEGO titles, so are you suggesting that we have a LEGO character? That's a worse decision than Rival Trainer is. Maybe just as bad. Besides, you already got a character for Midway (Sub-Zero), a few from Namco, and a few from Square. Doesn't change the fact that MGS was the first 3rd Party in Smash, and that in turn makes Konami the first 3rd Party COMPANY for Smash. So Konami should have the same amount as SEGA. If anything, the number of Capcom characters needs to be dropped. With Mega, Ryu, Morrigan, Proto, Joe, Frank, and the discussed Phoenix Wright, that would be 7 characters. More than Konami AND SEGA. I feel that the perfect Capcom roster for this game would be Mega, Ryu, Joe, and Haggar. WITH the possible inclusion of Arthur. 5 characters. That'd be enough.

After rereading through the thread, I think that they may or may not have removed Protoman. The first posts saying that he wasn't going to touch him and that there was nothing to be complaining about make it seem like he was removed, but then him talking about Phantom doing his work...hm....
Also, its come to my attention that Gengar is part Poison, which is the same with Ivysaur. It isn't as bad as three reps of the same type, but just felt like adding that in.

That is exactly what I thought. Of course dmx was being vague about the whole situation. I can't exactly blame him but it really does not help the situation by hinting at things. My question is who is the new replacement, because I think (but I'm not 100% sure) he hinted at Zero not returning as well.

D'OH! I forgot about Gengar being Poison type! That means: Steel: Lucario, Scizor, Aggron Poison: Ivysaur, Gengar
None of the 11 Pokemon share a type my @$$. All of the Rival Trainer's Pokemon have the same type as an existing character and EACH OTHER in Scizor's and Aggron's case.

Final Smash: Grovyle uses Leaf Storm to the left, Mudkip uses Hydro Pump to the right, and Blaziken uses Overheat upwards. That seems a bit OP considering Red's only goes in one direction. I think it should be something Pokemon Contest-like, since that was one of the main additions in 3rd gen and has been brought back in one form or another in each successive generation. In the Anime, May entered a lot of contests, so it shouldn't be hard figuring something out.

I like the idea of something relating to contests, cause it'd fit May's character and it wouldn't be a clone of Pokémon Trainer's FS.

I'd like to say that Phantom and I both won't change the roster for 10 people. There are thousands of people that play this game. Just because you all hate something doesn't mean the other five thousand don't.
And Golden, I must ask: Why would you make a thread that seems to hate on me? Is this a grudge of some sort from a previous argument? And it's a little odd for you to make a thread just so you can complain about a roster that is very old and may have just been completely made up. You seem to think this game and the forum revolves around you when it doesn't, but it revolves around the exe file you click to the run the game. I bet you barely click that game at all.

Just because you all hate something doesn't mean the other five thousand don't. You have a point, but we have given evidence that a number of different people would enjoy having May in the game. Plus, some people outside the forum have also said that your Rival Trainer is off as well. Also, there isn't 5,000 people that play the game, ya know. If you have any statistics that say there are some people who think your Rival Trainer is the best pokemon char that has not been in the game yet, feel free to show it. EDIT: Replies Underlined.
