AEM's SSB4 Roster Topic -UPDATED-

I used to think that if Pla & Mai got in, then the other would be Zoroark, and if Mewtwo got in, then the other would be Victini and vice versa, due to one being cute and the other fierce. However, since it turns out Pla & Mai WEREN'T planned for SSBB, I don't really know what to think now...
imma lean towards Zoroark though. But I'd perfer Victini.

While Pokemon Japan has a bit of a "home country" bonus for Smash, it seems USA is doing more to push Zoroark to help even the odds.

Sakurai might also see Zoroark's body frame to be easier to work with, as well as it's Illusion ability to offer a unique style. Then again, Victini's body frame is also easy to work with, and being a Psychokinetic AND Pyrokinetic is unique in itself.

Hmm....Now I don't know who has the bigger shot....

Also, it might be possible that Sakurai could use Pikachu's body to make Victini, but obviously change electric to fire and change up the specials.

Well, it looks like its 50/50 with Zoroark & Victini. Its clear that Victini has the hometown advantage as well as being more relevant movie-wise by the time SSB4 begins or gets in the middle of development. But then Zoroark has the stronger fanbase and is more familiar since he was introduced as one of the 1st of many 5th gen Pokemon. I dont know where to choose. But hey, maybe it might be possible that their popularity in the PAL region could potentially break this tie if Sakurai really wants to go that far.

Actually, PRA&MAI does not equal Plusle & Minun. Many people (Including me) believes that's just the random space. Also, for a 3rd gen rep, Deoxys probably has the highest chance, being the most popular 3rd Gen Pokemon there is. But oh well. If Plusle and Minun have a major role in the remakes, than yes. However, if not, then Deoxys for a 3rd gen rep.

I would love for Victini to be in more than Zoroark, but I feel that Zoroark will get in.

Magnus. Medusa is more popular and unique.
Isaac is more liked, more popular.
F-ZERO is bigger than one character.
Oh, and you still need less Meowth and moar saki/isa

Here are 5 issues that I think people should stop complaining about when it comes to rosters:

1. Medusa vs. Magnus
2. Isaac vs. Matthew
3. Saki vs. Isa
4. Zoroark vs. Victini
5. Samurai Goroh vs. Black Shadow

The reason being that on all these cases, the characters have equal chance to their "opponent". To tell someone to swap with the other is pretty much trying to force your own bias onto THEIR Roster.

I know that not all these were mentioned, but they all need to be said. *Raises eyebrow towards Generic*

Taking Golden's post in consideration:
fffffine. K.rool. no consideration then. But mind you, rosters are made to predict who will be in the next game.
As for Mach Rider, Sakurai couldn't imagine him or excitebiker off of their bikes. Yes, he could find a use, but why do that when there are currently only 2 references to Mach Rider, whereas there are 3 or 4 references to Goroh? Maybe even 5. Not to mention there's quite a bit of retro characters. but whatevs~
But my big deal is no Saki or Isa. Seriously, they have a better chance than Matthew OR Isaac, due to actually being popular in Japan. Their games were received VERY well and sold very well in both Japan and America. Not to mention people with sword-guns are more unique than magic casters. And we already have quite a few RPG characters. Saki would be an arcade-shooter character. We have NONE of those. So yeah.

They ARE to predict who will be in the game. But if you complain over characters that have 50/50 chance against each other, you're pushing your own bias.
And no, Sakurai said NOTHING about that towards Mach Rider. Only Excitebiker.
AND, there's supposedly a new Mach Rider game coming out for 3DS that will also have him OFF THE BIKE to fight as well.

As for the Saki/Isa issue, I agree, but at the same time you can't say their sales were received well/sold well considering sources I found say otherwise about Star Successor.
And also, the whole "we need *insertcharacterhere* because they're from a genre unrepresented" is a bias as well. Sakurai has shown time and time again that he doesn't care if all genres are represented. (And we DO have an Arcade shooter character. Pit is now one thanks to Uprsing.)

Unique means nothing in the official Smash world. This is where we got Captain Ganon and Triple Landmasters.
And then there's also the fact that Isaac/Matthew would be unique as well, with their Psyenergy powers.

honestly Ryu has a better chance than Mega Man at being in a smash bros game. no matter how much you may want MM in, Capcom doesn't give a **** about his character and will sooner agree to licensing the best-known character from their best-known franchise
