The idea of transforming is changing to a different playstyle to better suit your matchup. So Deoxys could go into Attack/Speed form to play offensively, or cut into a Defensive form to have a camping match against someone like Samus, who would be a pain to approach.
@zyz, Mewtwo's technically a cat. So yeah we already have a cat.
Quilava's a porcupine.
