Not that you'd answer to this, but I have a guess at that, that's likely wrong. Bill Rizer from Contra

[/b][/quote] THAT'S the name of that game. I couldn't remember it. All I remembered was the near-impossible first level. That would certainly be an interesting addition, but wasn't Contra an arcade game?

It had a NES release as well, I believe a sequel, a "Super" version, and a version with a new player, I believe. And there should totally be a reference to ^^vv<><> The only smash game a contra rep has been in before was rumble, but that was not only a bad game, but they absolutely made him a terrible character.
But back on topic now

I figured it out.
It's Samus. What do I win?

Duke Nukem. Called it.
Anyways, I am happy now that Aero is not likely anymore. Saddened by NiGHTS not being likely, but my feeling was both or neither. Seeing as neither is the case, I'm fine.
Now there's still the issue of Rival Trainer....(at this point, it seems Frank West is set in stone, so I won't bother with him.)

And another character got replaced today! ...with a more retro character... If I revealed who the new character is, you wouldn't have expected us to choose him, and you'd think he has absolutely no moveset potential at all. But Doc and I talked about doing something with this character that when you play this character... will revolutionize the way Smash Bros. is played.

It's the Prince, from Katamari.
I CALLED IT.

My guess is Balloon Fighter.
Anyways, I'd like to ask that the non-NiGHTS discussion be carried somewhere else. Phantom, I'm not sure if you recalled seeing this quote I made earlier, because it was an edit, so I'm bringing this back up.
Its straight from Wikipedia. Phantom, you said you tried to look at games that had a high score, and when you were saying that NiGHTS got bad reviews, I think you meant the Wii version, right? If so, I'd like you to try and play this on an emulator, at least until the first level where you actually play as NiGHTS is over(not the tutorial) or at least once you get to flying around as NiGHTS. Once you do, if you still do not think NiGHTS would have much of a chance compared to other games, I will stop asking for NiGHTS to be in...at least for the time being. EDIT: also, like most members of the alliance are doing, I'd like to ask the other people to grade how NiGHTS. I'm curious at people's scores. I don't need the devs, as they've already given it.

I understand that Nights Into Dreams was a very good game, but I'm not so sure it will compete with the games represented in the roster now. Basically, Nights hasn't had as much of an influence on gaming as the other characters we've chosen.

Like Ristar?

Yes, like Ristar. It was one of the most appreciated games on the Genesis according to many sources.

And Wario Land 3 is considered to be the best gane for GBC according to many sources, so should we have Rudy the Clown?
And Goldeneye was considered one of the best N64 titles; should we have James Bond?

That's where popularity, moveset potential, and uniqueness come in, my friend. Just because a character receives a high score in representation (ex. Duck Hunt Dog, who received a 5) does not necessarily mean that we're going to throw them in the game; it takes some discussion and serious consideration before making that decision.
Do you not like Ristar? I hate to break this to you, but none of the characters we have completed now are going to be removed.

Of course not.
Why would we throw away Falcon's hard work?

I have no problem with Ristar. You misinterpret what I'm saying.
I'm using Ristar as a counterpoint to your argument.

I recall Falcon doing most of Ristar's animations, too, so removing Ristar really would be throwing away a lot of Falcon's hard work.

You're saying that it's all about representation. Ristar has other qualities that make him Smash-worthy. James Bond's representation doesn't even make sense to compare with Ristar's- Bond is not a true video game character.
