Because I don't think you guys understand the history behind this project enough to suggest characters. We grew up with Bomberman, Contra, Ristar, Street Fighter, Excitebike, and so many other retro games that have impacted everyone's gaming childhood, and ours. This impact made by these games inspired us to make a Smash Bros. fan game that would bring a player back to the old days with the SNES and the Genesis. Characters such as the Ancient Minister and Agumon didn't leave that special impact on us, nor did they even exist in that time. And yet you question us on why we have characters from great classics in Crusade... I think I chose those words right. Sorry, I actually posted this, just in the wrong account. And if you didn't grow up with these games, it's not our fault and we're not going to fix it. Why? Because the rest of the gaming community on the internet did grow up with these games and just because you few people have a problem doesn't mean everyone does. And don't say that we should care because you guys actually come on the forums. That doesn't give you any more credibility than anyone else. Honestly, I really don't like the forums mainly because of the ridiculous ideas you all come up with. We're trying to make the best Smash-Bros. game possible and we can't do it with this kind of crap. Without your help, we pieced together a demo that everyone fell in love with. Why do decide to go against what's in the game now, Golden? We would be glad to listen to suggestions if smart people actually came up with them... Hmm that statement sounds so... familiar. Where have I heard that from? Here's a question for you (and usually I'm not the one to express my opinion), are you sane with madness, or are you just blinded by your inner conscience who keeps controlling who you really are?

I'm not saying to "fix it". You honestly don't give a **** to what people say if you aren't even going to make the right points. What's already done is done, and I don't wish for anything already in the game to be taken out.
Oh and the "rest of the gaming community on the internet" did? Where are your statistics, because otherwise, you're just making overgeneralizations. I'm not saying that a majority didn't, I'm saying that you have no right to say a majority DID.
And once more, you feed bullshit about how our suggestions are ridculous without actually saying why. I can understand how Ancient Minister and Laughing Dog are, as honestly (and the guys know this) I never really supported those two. And Ratchet is borderline ridiculous, being non-Nintendo (though, if I remember correctly, you guys had KRATOS at some point, not sure if he's in now). But NiGHTS? Agumon? The two are hardly ridcicuous.
For one thing, NiGHTS is a fan favorite of SEGA, which only consists of Sonic characters and Ristar in Crusade. That's a problem. Especially when characters like Billy Hatcher, Akira Yuki, Ryo Hazuki, Aiai, Amigo, Ulala, NiGHTS, and even friggin Segata Sanshiro and Vectorman (who, like Ristar, is another cult classic. Possibly even BIGGER because he actually has a sequel.) are left out. Once AGAIN, I am not saying to remove Ristar, which is what you keep seeming to think I am, but I'm saying that SEGA is unproperly represented, and needs at least ONE more non-Sonic character. Which also goes by a major problem I have; the lack of a second Metal Gear character. Really? The FIRST 3rd Party to grace the Smash series, and you don't bother to give it even ONE new character? What makes it to where Raiden isn't allowed? And Megaman, who wasn't in Brawl, gets TWO?! Seriously, that's a stupid decision. More than just stupid, it's ASININE. Now, back to the point I was making earlier. Why in the Hell is Agumon a ridiculous choice? You have never answered that, and I don't think you intend to because that's how you are. If it's such a ridiculous choice, how come both Falcon and Nights love the idea? Are they not "smart" as you define it? Smart being what, thinking exactly the way that YOU think?
Oh, and WITHOUT my help? Who's the one that said to have Angelglory as the announcer? Oh yeah, that's right: ME! Give credit where credit is due, or did you not learn that with Mewtwo?
And you know what, you're a ****. First, you claim that only 11 year olds like Shadow the Hedgehog, which essentially means that you are calling me an 11 year old, now you essentially call me stupid. You wouldn't know smart people if EINSTEIN shook your hand.
Go ahead, punish me if you dare. Just know this: If you strike me down now, you will only make me stronger. That, and whatever molecule of respect you have from anyone here other than yourself and your brother will be gone.

Well, Agumon is a very popular character, if you ask me. Many people grew up with digimon and what we need is a balance between popular and forgotten, new and old characters.
Sure enough, Ristar and Mach rider deserve to get in being old, yet iconic and celebrated. Characters like Protoman or Aero may be just as old, but certainly aren't as iconic or deserving.
In other words, although they are old, the gamer can easily grow fond of them by getting a little informed about them since they have been popular and marked the gaming history with their presence.
To make a point, even old characters have to be or have to have been popular.

I don't usually get upset that much on forums, but this is really the most offensive post Ive ever seen on this forum, and from a dev no less. It's actually appalling. You actually have the gall to disregard people that follow this game actively, some who even visit daily, for the "rest of the gaming community" who you're hiding behind because we can't hear their opinions like you so clearly can't hear ours?! You have the nerve to suggest that we should have somehow been born earlier or played different games? How dare you imply that your childhood memories are somehow greater than, or superior to ours? And finally, I honestly can't believe that you'd suggest even for and instant that you haven't even used one idea, stage, concept, or error fix from even one person besides you, falcon, and phantom ever. Maybe some ideas are ridiculous, maybe even a majority, but don't propose to use that we haven't been useful as a community. To think that "Without your help, we pieced together a demo that everyone fell in love with" is both moronic and oxymoronic. You can try and have wave this with a "u mad", but you're wrong. I'm absolutely furious, and I am perfectly justified in feeling that way.

Damn it.
I post much too slow...
But all in all, we have been with you since-well not the begining-but my point is that you keep disregarding us when we have clearly posted feedback and suggestions on a daily basis.
You say that suggestions like Agumon and Ancient Minister are stupid or ridiculous. Where is your reasoning? You just don't like them. Disagreeing is always acceptable but you're plain insulting; therefore you are-and had been from the get go-wrong.
These choices have been supported with arguements which you yet have to overpower. Thus they cannot be stupid. If they were, not only they would have been turned down from the majority immediately, but there also wouldn't be any standing up arguements.
You have yet to dismiss those suggestions properly so, before you act further, I suggest that you explain to us all why exactly is each one of these suggestions is ridiculous.

And, you ticked Ensane off. This just got serious.

EDIT: Ninja'd by falcon. keep that in mind.
Ok, first:
Why in the world would you log onto Falcon's account in the first place? This explains why I was so confused reading FALCON post that the Minister and Agumon, two character's you frequently use as "ridiculous and crappy suggestions for characters", were ridiculous and didn't deserve representation. I honestly don't get what's so ridiculous about the Ancient Minister. Maybe if you actually answered people's questions once in a while, we'd be less aggravated at these egregious accusations.
You don't seem to get this point: There are people on the internet who download a game and play it, nothing more and nothing less. Then there are the people who actually contribute to the game, join the community, and help out with things. Many of the people on the internet didn't grow up with these games. Had you grown up with only Legend of Zelda, would you be making a Super Smash Bros: Legend with only LoZ characters? Technically, DMX, you're still growing up, and I highly doubt you don't play Brawl with some level of frequency. Phantom said in a PM to me that the reason you guys are making the game was because Brawl had its "hiccups" and you wanted to make a game that could do better. You've already succeeded in this, as far as I'm concerned. However, Sakurai actually listened to his fans in the interval between Melee and Brawl, as opposed to you and Phantom at the moment.
This is a direct insult to anyone that's ever made a suggestion for Crusade. This should be considered flaming. Falcon obviously isn't included in this "we" you keep referring too, because he actually listens to suggestions, last I checked.
Zoroark. You can't say that I've never made a good suggestion, because I quite obviously have. And you still refuse to explain WHY the Ancient Minister is ridiculous, just that you believe he is a load of crap as a character.
Ha. This is completely false. Maybe without us specifically, but have you read through the first 30-something pages of the Smashboards thread? You know, back when you loved suggestions? Oh wait, you've probably forgotten all about that time. And also, there were a number of people that actually hated the demo you made. Sure, the first demo might've been made without our help, but who finds the majority of glitches and reports them to you nowadays? This forum. If you didn't have a forum or a thread people could contribute to, you would end up with a ton of glitches that you wouldn't even know about. (Sorry if it seems I'm bad-mouthing Falcon's coding abilities, it was a side-effect of the post if so).

Nah, a lot of those early posts on Smashboards were made before we even released a demo.
I disagree totally with what Doc said up there, by the way.

I just wanted that on the record since I, too, am a dev. Of course we all disagree. Without you guys, the game would still be in the pre-Classic phase. You guys give us the advice and moral support we need to work on this project. By the way, thanks.

Having read through the thread quite recently, I remember you still received a lot of crap from people after the first demo and after the remade engine (granted, mostly from SSF2 fanboys, but nonetheless). It looks like it got better after that.

We would be glad to listen to suggestions if smart people actually came up with them... Are YOU the one who does math two years ahead of most of his peers? Are YOU the one who got first place in the state science fair in first grade? I am totally an idiot. Just ask my fellow idiots here.

^^lol.
Anyways, DMX, you're calling us idiots, when we ask for certain things, make things CLEAR, and you think we're talking about something else? Take Golden's PM. He said that he didn't want Pichu in the game, yet you thought HE DID. Yup, Golden's the idiot there for being clear. Being clear is a TOTAL reason for being an idiot. And when we ask certain things that NEED explanations, like why you grade Rival's pokemon with complete 100's, why you think Deoxys has a 4.5 in moveset potential, or why you WON'T grade May's pokemon, you ignore them. If anything, you're ignorant.
