Snake was heavily nerfed. His grenades are harder to use (they stick to Snake instead of Snake throwing them automatically when B is released) and his air game is actually worse. Despite Cypher being more on the defense, the move can't be left out of and it goes slower than in Brawl making it suspectable to edgehogging and edgeguarding (and gimps depending of how strong it is). C4 is way harder to use. It is significantly harder to stick in aerial opponents, its more predictable (though this is good in some situations) and it can easily be seen, making it easier to shield from. The Remote Controlled Missile is longer and it can't be left out of, and its a lot slower. He has less range in most of his attacks and his attack speed is a bit slower.
The main thing that makes Snake suck is that he is significantly easier to predict and the way to control the stage like in Brawl is significantly harder to do in Crusade.
