I think Pac Man would be a more popular choice if your looking for a 3rd party mascot that has crossed paths with Mario before

You underestimate Slime's importance and popularity.
And Pac-Man's only been in two games with Mario, both of them being Mario Karts in an ARCADE.
Slime has crossed over with Mario in Idataki Street DS, which featured Mario and DQ characters, but Slime and Mario were the ones on the cover, Mario Sports Mix, which also featured the 5 FF characters that were in Mario Hoops, and the upcoming Fortune Street for the Wii, which is a sequel to the Idataki Street DS.
And seeing as Slime is the mascot for DQ, which has more importance to Nintendo than any other Square-Enix game, as well as any 3rd Party (EVEN over Sonic), Slime is a must for SSB4.

Really, everything seems right IMO except for Luigi and Jiggs being unlockable, but at that it's not too bad.

This is because I don't believe that any of the Original 12 should be unlockable anymore. member 777 Luigi not being unlockable makes the entire roster bad? The Earthbound series needs more/another character, and not Porky. I've been waiting a long times for this to happen, y'know, and I don't care if Nintendo hates Earthbound. Ninten makes sense a little, but he looks way too much like Ness...

New Earthbound/Mother characters>No New Earthbound/Mother characters>Porky
I still don't see how you could play as Porky. He still seems like a boss to me, and apparently, Nintendo saw that the same way in Brawl.

1. Put him in his smaller mech from Earthbound. This is what the Spriters-Resource plans on doing for their game.
2. Give him a spider backpack.
3. Although it'd be pointless, don't have him in a mech.
Honestly, size doesn't matter. And Mother 3's mech is larger than EarthBound's mech.

It's not his size...really, it's the mechs he can use. They don't seem very playable to me, and the spider backpack idea also seems sort of far-fetched.

The spider-backpack would make him unique and can fit for Smash with all the styles of fighting we have had over the years.

Either way, EB/Mother does not need a third character.
The series only has 3 games, isn't as popular as people believe and is dead; there will be no more games.
2 characters is more than enough representation. And the third (IF there is one) would be Porky due to having major antagonistic roles in two games.
Ninten looks too much like Ness and would most likely be another variation of Ness like Lucas is.
Claus is requested by people that go "OMG he's so bad@$$, he needs to be in the game!", and those people annoy me just as much as the people that say Geno should be in Smash. Claus would also be a big Spoiler for the people that haven't played Mother 3.
Any other Mother 3 character that is requested ticks me off as well, as my belief is that they are requested JUST BECAUSE the one who's requesting them either can't play the game or is obsessed with it.
Jeff/Paula/Poo are just unnecessary.
Giygas, well....is too Giygas to be included as a character.
