What if I released a gmk of SSBC? It may be an older one (0.5 or 0.6), but it's still SSBC. I want to see what people can do with it.

Leaving it to fans who dont know a thing about spriting & programming will eventually quit on it. From there Crusade will be more dead than it is now.
At least with Project Crusade the project continues to grow and never die.

At least if I put this online, anyone that wants it can have it.
If I put this up on Mario Fan-Games Galaxy, it would be used the mess out of. This would impact the Game Maker community like crazy. It's not like people can't code.

OK, here's my idea then.
Ask Falcon for a copy of JUST the engine, possibly with Mario included as an example. Make THAT the Open Source part; he intended to release the engine anyways. Then send me a copy of the full .gmk so that I and the rest of Project Crusade can continue the game properly.
This way, we have one version of Crusade that's still up and running and everyone gets a Smash x Mugen engine to work with without having 9001+ versions of Crusade running around.

If I knew more about Game Maker, I'd cut out all the characters (except for Mario and Luigi) and all of the stages (except for Battlefield and Final Destination). I would like to make the other existing characters/stages downloadable if some people would still want them in their game. |

What you should be releasing is simply an engine and a few examples, so leaving Mario, Luigi, Final Destination and Battlefield is probably fine. What you could do is have a place with the code for each individual character that they just copy and paste.
And sure, I should have a bit of free time today. Go ahead and send it, now that I know Falcon is fine with it.

Okay, here's the deal:
-I give Detta the current SSBC (the entire folder; the game will not work with just the gmk).
-Detta (hopefully) will create a simplified version that includes Mario, Luigi, Battlefield, and Final Destination.
-Detta can give me the simplified version so it can be posted where it needs to be posted.
-The forums (motionforums?) is turned into a huge workshop forum for the engine.
-Project: C!!!
-I post the things needed for other characters and stages.
Thoughts?

Sounds good. I suppose this is a good time to make the announcement: The forums for Project: Crusade will be here. We have a lot of stuff already set up, but it's still a WIP for the time being. More stuff is explained there than I'd care to re-explain here. So there'll be three forums for Crusade: The old Motionsforum, which will be for discussion of the open-source stuff, this forum, which will be for discussion of 0.7.1 (although this forum'll probably die out soon) and the Project: Crusade forum, which will be specifically for Project: Crusade. If I'm not too busy the open-source version should be complete by this time next week, granted I get everything some time today. |

I wouldn't believe that quote unless Falcon himself got on and said it. Nothing against you, DMX, but it's better to hear it from the guy himself.
