What difference would it make if we lock this topic? This whole argument is spilling all over the forum either way. At least this dicussion is being kept in one place with this topic as of late. At least till everything can be resolved.

Locking =/= deleting, my friend.
After solving the argument, this topic should be removed.

I'm not really sure what there is to solve, actually. All that needs to happen is that when people disagree, they need to be nice about it and not insult other people. Sometimes, people have different ideas for a number of reasons, such as their experiences as kids, their friends, or what have you. It's not necessarily an insult to any if someone has a different idea from someone else's idea. It's just their way of perceiving something. Flaming is not productive. If you have a doubt or disagreement about what someone says, let them know why, but don't say insulting things. If you're joking, make it clear by using a or or something like that. Just play nice!

The thing is, some people can't. Why don't we just do things like the good ol' days and talk about gameplay and what not?

The thing is, some people can't. Evidently, you are one of these people. When a person is insulted, of course they would reply harshly as they have been offended. I thought that was already your job at this point. If you mean this as giving up your power over the roster and reducing yourself to spriting, then by all means go ahead, it'll provide you with more time to be productive and will save you a HECK of a lot of trouble. In other news, I hereby dub you "Sir Ellipses", since you seem to be using those a lot lately. XD I do. A lot. In case you haven't noticed. And that's what the entire "Individual Character Boards" board is for, last I checked. It's just that I like to talk about other things too. As do a lot of people.

Either way, any part of the game will be debatable. Gameplay, characters, etc. It is not the topic that is causing these flaming wars, its the fact that there are people here who dont know how to express their opinions without adding insults.

Okay, I'm kinda mad.
I'm not saying this just so you'll stop complaining, but I'm not an instrument while you guys be the star. If I'm going to sprite this game, I need a little respect and a little input. I can spend forever trying to sprite a character everyone wants in (Donkey Kong after tons of attempts) and get nothing but this. I have better things to do if you don't want me here. I'm not a spriter too lazy to go and sprite everyday and it's pretty rare to find a spriter like that; especially someone who would work on something with this low of a fan-base. You know why we have only 1 full-time spriter and 2 other spriters (Cyberwolf and RaLord)? Because of this.
And don't think Phantom or Falcon can do this job. Falcon can't go and sprite FREAKING IKE and make an Adventure Mode at the same time. And Phantom can't do it. He's busy trying to make Character Art. And you know what's needed to make that? SPRITES.
I bet Flash 2's community is better right now and I'm sure they treat their spriters well. Yeah, spriters, kinda wish we had those, huh? If you want to kick me off the forums, go ahead. That wouldn't help you guys at all. You'd lose you're only spriter. And you can't make a game without sprites. And Cyberwolf and RaLord are the only ones on this forum besides me that can sprite worth a crap. I'm surprised they even wanted to come on here.
I'm tired of me getting mad over and over, so I think I'm just going to quit on this game.

1. IIRC, Cyberwolf hasn't made a sprite yet for the game. 2. DK was being sprited by StayPuft. 3. Daw is helping you with Ike. 4. We have Slissith as well. And PhantomHP, though he hasn't contributed anything yet. 5. There's also kind of Detta.
Now, me myself, I don't think you should leave. But heck, you're quitting again?
Hm. It seems to me that we're getting into kind of a family business here. I think there needs to be some discussion between the devs...

No, Cyberwolf is. He works too slow. He really didn't help much. Slissith and PHP are good. Detta is so-so.
And no, because the same thing will happen again. I can think of many other places where I get more respect than this.

I doubt anyone is pushing for anyone to leave the forum. Honestly, I think no matter what forum you go to, there will always be conflicts like the ones we are dealing with now. Forums are communities where suggestions and opinions are always discussed and these things naturally happen on these forums.

Yay, I get a so-so! ;D For the record, I'm better at editing than making things from scratch.
Anyways... I honestly didn't mean to make you want to leave again. It's just that you don't seem to be doing the job you put yourself in recently as the "final opinion on characters" and such. It's OK to say no, but as the suggesters we like to have these pretty things called reasons that persuade us to see things from your point of view. Lately, you've just been giving numbers and disproven reasons for your opinions. I'm not saying you aren't entitled to your opinion, but if it does end up only being opinion then it shouldn't have an effect on the game. Sure, as the spriter you should get a say in who gets to be in since you obviously have to do the bulk of the work on characters, but if someone else is willing to do all the spriting for them, generally you shouldn't shoot them down as brutally as you have with Pichu and the Minister (no DHD pun intended). I think this situation will be resolved come summer, because according to Werekill, him and Phantom will be done with the AP testing that's taken up most of their time as of late.

I have decided that I will soon lock (and eventually delete) this thread for the benefit of those posting here and the rest of this community. First of all, I want to say that I sincerely apologize for the manner in which Doc has been treating all of you. I think we have all noticed that recently he has not been thinking before making posts, and his assertions have been unnecessarily harsh and selfish. I think plasmis summed up Doc's recent posts pretty well: ...Here's a question for you (and usually I'm not the one to express my opinion), are you sane with madness, or are you just blinded by your inner conscience who keeps controlling who you really are? Doc has proven to all of us that his ignorance and lack of forum experience, along with uncontrolled anger and lack of respect, have driven him to develop such self-centered, cruel arguments. His brief, unsupported posts have clearly served as the primary cause of the unrelenting and consistent flame wars that have been taking place here. Doc, I have this to say to you, and I say it publicly so that everyone here reading this can understand what is going on here: Please stop interfering with all of the discussions here. Fans are fans, and they are bound to discuss possibilities for the game that we may not agree with. If you want to discuss what we are seriously proposing for this game, do it in the DBR; don't try to convince all of the other members of something they don't agree with, especially by doing it in a selfish and angry manner. You may be correct about many of the points you've made here or much of what we've discussed outside of this community, but the posts you make are rude and lack logical support. Visitors of this community will be much more disappointed in a developer's uncontrolled response to silly suggestions made by fans than the silly suggestions themselves. And also, I want to clarify something. Clearly, what goes on in this community and what goes on in the DBR are completely different. You all are free to discuss whatever you feel should be discussed, and you are entitled to your own opinion, no matter how silly we think it might be (as long as no rules are broken . I also want to point out that, obviously, many of the flame wars in this community are a result of disagreements in the character roster. The character roster, as large as 80 characters may seem, is very tight. It isn't easy to come up with the ideal roster for this game, or even pinpoint exactly what the ideal roster is, so it is not likely that even a decent number of character suggestions made in this community will make it onto the roster. We put a lot of effort into developing a roster that features the most popular, viable, unique, and most importantly, well-represented, characters. Not everyone is going to agree with what characters are in the finished project, and there is nothing anyone can do to avoid that. But we as developers try very hard to include characters that will satisfy the general populace of gamers while providing a sense of nostalgia and a bit of fun, by representing the most widely played, critically acclaimed, and well remembered and praised games of all time. I genuinely hope that we can all learn from the mistakes we've made in this community and that from this point on, we can all appeal to reason and learn to respect each other, so that we may better this community and transform it into a place where we can logically discuss this game and its aspects.

@dmx: You want respect? You have to earn it. Don't just naturally assume you deserve it just because you're a spriter. And what you've been saying lately, I doubt ANYONE is going to give you respect.
