No, unfortunately I honestly don't care about the Minister being on the main roster. All I want is DLC, even though that's a long way off.
After learning the reasons behind this game, I can see why you don't want the Minister being included because he's too new. You yourself said this point was almost made invalid by Rosalina, but apparently SMG and SMG2 got better scores than Brawl.

Agumon is popular, Agumon is unique (with Greymon as a transformation), and Agumon represents the Bandai in Namco Bandai as well as Digimon, which is famous for rivaling Pokemon, even if it was just the animes that rivaled each other.
The only other series to do that with a Nintendo series was Sonic The Hedgehog.

Well, all right. Let's discuss Agumon! As usual, I will present my side of the debate in the form of the newcomer scoring system that I devised, and once done, I will compare the results with other proposed characters and characters currently listed for the game.

Let's begin with representation.

Since the focus of characters' representation in the character roster deals almost entirely with video games, I'm going to use the same principle for Agumon. Of course, much of the purpose of SSBC deals with video game nostalgia, so I will examine in this area what of that Digimon, and specifically, Agumon has provided.

The North American releases for the Digimon game series are as follows: Digimon World, Digimon World 2, Digimon World 3, Digimon World 4, Digimon Digital Card Battle, Digimon Rumble Arena, Digimon Rumble Arena 2, Digimon Battle Spirit, Digimon Battle Spirit 2, Digimon Racing, Digimon World DS, Digimon World Data Squad, Digimon World Dawn and Dusk and Digimon World Championship.

Digimon World, released in 2000 in NA, is an RPG that focuses on raising a Digimon partner. The game received scores of 5.1/10 and 5.8/10 from GameSpot and IGN, respectively. However, it sold well in Japan - 250,000 copies were sold by Febuary 2000, with a Japanese release in January 1999.

Digimon World 2 recieved the following scores - 51.72% from GameRankings, 42% from Metacritic, 28% from Electronic Gaming Monthy, and 4/10 from IGN. Yikes. DW3 was, apparently, hardly an improvement: 47% from Metacritic, 40% from EGM, 40% from GamePro, 4.9/10 from GameSpot, 6.9/10 from GameZone, and 50% from Official Playstation Magazine. DW4 received similar scores.

No other Digimon games received impressive scores, nor were very popular. Digimon Battle Spirit won the "January 2003 GBA Game of the Month" award, but other than that, there was no critical acclaim for any Digimon games.

It seems as though Digimon is most well known for its TV series, comics, and card game. As a score for representation, I'm giving it a 1/5. The games that weren't crappy were mediocre and unimpressive, and could have only satisfied fans of the series outside of video games.

Now let's move on to popularity.

Ambient Flames, Aura of Inferno, Visionary Blaze) that could potentially be special moves and /or a final smash. Agumon also possesses an easily applicable body structure, relatively small but with large claws that could be used for swift regular attacks. However, Agumon most likely will not fit in too well with the other characters, mostly due to his weak representation. For that reason, he is not quite as viable as other proposed characters.

The verdict for viability: 4/5.

And lastly, for uniqueness, Agumon possesses very usable abilities (such as those mentioned above) that are somewhat unlike those of other characters, but Agumon probably won't bring anything revolutionary to Smash Bros. While his abilities are interesting, there's nothing truly special about them that makes him stand out as a character. I think 4/5 is an accurate score.

Now for the verdict:

Popularity: 4
Viability: 4
Uniqueness: 4

Total: 13/20 SCORE: 65/100

His representation score kills it. The problem is that Digimon games were entirely unimpressive, and as a whole, most gamers probably won't be too interested in Agumon's inclusion. His nostalgia factor will be in the anime series and in card games while it should be in gaming, so it is misplaced. Thus, Agumon will not fit in too well. If he was included, he would stand out in an awkward manner, as the character from the worst games.

That...is quite impressive. You give a large amount of explanations to explain why a character wouldn't be in, unlike DMX who just gives the scores.

Wow. That actually makes sense.

With mediocre games, he's not that great of a representative for video games, and his popularity is mostly from the anime, which there will be only one character from an anime, and that's Goku.

Had Goku not been the only one, Agumon may have stood more of a chance...but even then, he'd have to compete with the likes of Naruto, Ichigo, Vegeta, Maka and Soul, etc.

Yeah, the PS1. The Tamagatchi-styled came out around the time Pokemon did in Japan, though it is still debated which came first. There are many dates for the Digimon game, some before, some after. No one knows for sure.

As for the forum users, Everything has been a bit hectic, and I think I haven't been watching you all closely enough, thus not doing my job well. If I payed more attention I'd be able to reduce the flaming/stress/arguments before they started. I'll start trying a bit harder like I used to do. Or maybe spruce up the site a bit.
Try and argue nicely, even if you were insulted first. if you NEED someone to come clear things up, by all means, PM me, I get on the forums to check for PM's very often everyday. So that's the best way to let me know when something is wrong.

Theres a lot to look at everyday and its a bit of a hassle for just me to see who needs infracted and what needs to be broken up.
